I don't know if I woud characterize his actions as "non-violent" as stated in the write up. From what I saw, I didn't think it was excessive.

I didn't realize you could die from a tazer? Was he wearing a pace maker or something?

Yeah, they call them non-lethal weapons

If you have a heart condition or wasted on drugs your chances of surviving are greatly reduced

Im think the number of deaths in Canada is 18 so far.

He came off a plane and clearly could not have been armed.m I would say unnesassary.

It looked like he was either high on something or flew Air Canada's business class.

If he flew Air Canada, his anger was probably justified and should get his luggage posthumously next week.

Making a joke about someone dying? Maybe the ersatz swede has a point afterall.
What if it had happened in WWII?

I wasn't aware there were any deaths from tazer use. Interesting.

I still wouldn't consider his actions non-violent. After throwing things around, he put up a good fight.

Look at it this way....as a cop you come across people in all kind of conditions and you have to make a decision on subduing them.........The TAZER while it inflicts pain is a great alternative to wrestling someone to the ground...........Ask yourself what would you have done.

I wasn't making a joke about someone dying, I was making a joke about why he might have been upset (and Air Canada's service).

Nice try though.

P.S. The only point Anderson has is on the top of his head.

They had 3 cops there, isnt wrestling to the ground a better option??

Tazers do not kill healthy people, they only kill people with certain medical conditions. Unfortunately some of those conditions are quite common, and many of the people who have the conditions don't know that they have them.

Several eye witnesses have expressed exactly that feeling. Isn't it great that cellphones have cameras in them now?

Possibly but he was a pretty big fella and put up a good fight against 4 cops.

I thought a tazer was supposed to subdue a man without killing him. It wasn't exactly a Rodney King type of thing.

The big problem here is police didn't follow their own procedures. Tazers are supposed to be a 2nd last resort (firearms are the last resort). Their own protocols say they are supposed to try or at least consider other things first: pepper spray, batons, etc.

The police report of the incident, apparently made unaware that there was a video, appears to contain outright lies about why these things weren't used.

For example, they say that they didn't pepper spray him because of concerns about innocent bystanders in the area, but the video clearly shows him to be in an enclosed space away from other people.

Also they tazered him twice because they said he continued to struggle with officers after the 1st attack. Apparent from the video though is that he was lying on the floor screaming after the first hit, not struggling with anyone.

I wasn't aware of this until today.

The guy who shot the footage was on the radio this morning and said the cops hits this guy twice with the tazer because he was fighting back after the first one. Christ... his body was probaby still in convulsions from the first jolt.

Then he said it took 7-8 minutes for the paramedics are arrive and the police did nothing while this guy apparently had no pulse/dying. If this is all true... why didn't the police start first aid/cpr?

Exactly, so basically the cops are playing Russian roulette everytime they taser
