I received an e-mail titled Police Investigation with the following attached "As a result of an investigation by the York Regional Police, your name and or e-mail address has come to our attention. Could you please call me; I would like to speak with you about this matter. " Anyone else get one or know anything about this ?

If all they are doing is emailing you - and they are not telephoning you I would ignore it as a possible hoax.

Save it and have your ISP determine the identity of the sender. If it's a hoax, sue, if real, reply and tell them to stop harassing you, for that is all that this would be. If they had any goods on you they would have invited you to town in a forcible manner.

Dear Officer Smith;

I most certainly would love to call you, however I am rather busy assisting Prince Blowme Allnight transfer US$25 million from a bank account in Lagos, Nigeria.

Once I receive my share, I intend to invest the windfall in viagara and penis enlargement pills.

Perhaps, at that time, we can chat.

Sincerely yours,

Dragonbiz

I think you should save it and try to determine the identity of the sender if possible. You might want to post the email header here ( minus any personal info). Someone might be able to tell you whether the email is real or a hoax based on the header info.
eg: if the IP or other header info has been forged that would certainly prove the email is a hoax.

Shake: Laughing My ass off...

You forgot to add.

But I will forward your request to 20 of my friends. Hopefully I will receive good luck or 20c per email will be forwarded by AOL working in conunction with Bill Gates and Martha Stewart for starving children in need of heart transplants.

I'm laughing my rear end off also.

Listen up, folks!!! Even if this was the real cops you DO NOT have to talk to the cops UNLESS you are under arrest and then you STILL have the right to ONLY talk to an attorney. You can basically tell them to go fukc themselves and there's not a thing they can do.
I dont recommend this, however, I would stay nice and polite and explain to them that your lawyer handles all police matters and then proceed to hand them your attorneys business card.
Follow that with a polite: "Have a nice day"
