thin crust pizza and skinny spaghetti are OK for maintenance
there are low carb stores
What are skinny spaghetti? On google I get either thin spaghetti (like spagettini) or squash spaghetti, or spaghetti made out of cabbage.
I'm familiar with shirataki which are not bad and not good. :)

it is a thinner version of spaghetti

I might have got the name wrong

shirataki is best stir fried with basil pesto and chicken

Try Nupasta

squash spaghetti is a type of squash that is the lowest in carbs of all the squashes

look at your calorie intake and lower it by eating only 1000 cals per days then lower once you are satisfied .
Sorry, I'm a little confused here. Are you suggesting that one should consume less than 1000 calories a day, or cut their caloric intake by 1000 calories a day (assuming one consumes over 3000 calories a day)?

i'd suggest the following.
1) Count calories and ensure its 500 less than your BMR (use the calculator below or to get a rough estimate multiple your weight in pounds by 10). Use my fitness pal as mentioned above.
2) Get your thyroid, cholesterol, estrogen, etc checked along with other hormones, this imbalance alone will make it impossible for you to lose weight.
3) Get a good heart rate monitor to help accurately count how many calories you burn per workout (helps with motivation too).
4) Eat back the calories from workout (to avoid metabolic damage), as you are already on a deficit of 500 a day (3500 calories is 1 pound approx).
5) mix up your workout sessions with Pilates, weight training, a intense dance class or other activities of your choice (cardio 3 days a week and weights 2 times a week).
6) don't over do it, make sure you don't work out more than an hour each session (excludes stretching and warm up) and you take rest days (listen to your body).
7) Talk about hormone replacement therapy with your doctor (if point 2 is valid).
8) Don't go on a diet, eat a balance meal 5 times a day but hit your Macros (50% carbs, 30% protein, 20% fat) while staying within your daily caloric need (going Vegan should help you lose weight real quick).
9) Avoid cheat days ( its a slippery slop), instead treat your self to perhaps a movie, clothes or anything else.
10) Stay positive and don't watch your scale, you can gain muscle. Instead see how your clothes fit you.
Best of luck.

Since July I've lost 35 lbs on a diet of low carbs, water, multivitamin and Vitamin D tablets.

When I started the diet I did the 10 day cleanse and lost 12 lbs, since then I've been losing weight gradually. When you have dinner, don't duplicate carbs. Have only one type with meals. You can enhance your nutrition through carbs with wild rice, or rye or best of all a type of squash.

Schwarma is one of my favorite things to eat. There are some guidelines: no garlic sauce (mayo) or lettuce (excess water), have tabbouleh instead of lettuce and best of all pickled radish. It makes the digestive system work better.

Agree with the multi-vitamin and vitamin D.
Vitamin D and Zinc are great precursors to hormones. low levels of Micro nutrients do lead to weight gain.
Also make sure you sleep 8 hours each day. people who sleep less than 5-6 hours a day tend to gain weight rapidly.

I suffer from a severe form of SAD that attacks me physically. My doctor said to load up on the Vitamin D to a maximum of 125 mcg a day. I take the max on overcast days.

I have to watch my intake of acidic foods in the cold weather months, it makes the condition infinitely worse. The puzzle is red wine, it initially aggravates the condition but suppresses it over time.

I follow the 1000 calorie diet when I want to lose weight, but with a twist: I allow myself to eat any additional calories I burn through aerobic exercise.

So if hit the gym and burn 300 calories I get an extra small meal. Otherwise it is too hard to maintain an exercise regime while on such a severe diet.

In fact it encourages me to exercise because I get to eat more. One time after about 20 days on that diet I was craving a burger, so I spent a huge amount of time in the gym and burned 700 cals so I could go have a cheese burger and fries. Stuff you would never eat on a diet but with the calories already burned in the gym, guilt free.

The following solution should be OK for a short term fix to loose some pounds, i.e. take soylent.
Its a liquid only course with all the macros and Micros. measure to take 1500 calories a day (comes pre measured for 400cal per bottle, so 4*4) and take it for a month, to see the outcome.
as it is pre-measured, you don't have to worry about calorie calculation.
but keep the sleep and exercise up, if you want to make this transition easy.
https://www.soylent.com/product/drink/

again, this is a short term fix, my previous post was a lifestyle change which is more healthy.

I wouldn't obsess over calories but instead make sure that you're only eating whole, unprocessed foods. One ingredient: carrots, spinach, apples, things that do not come in a package and have not been altered from their original state. Emphasize the green vegetables and aim for at least 8 servings a day. High nutrient density versus caloric density.
That good advice for general eating, permanent diet change. When you want to cut weight though you need to cut the calories. Though on 1000 calories a day you also want to make them count so it is good advice to hit highly nutritious foods when you are eating so little.

Well i'm bumping this thread cause i still need to lose weight so far i haven't succeeded :frown:
Once you start your diet, stand in front of a mirror naked every morning and take a selfie. Then post it here, so that we can follow your progress. ;)

Ok, seriously. Keep a food diary and count calories. Myfitnesspal.com is good, and is free. The ads can be annoying though. There are other apps as well.

But you have to be really honest with yourself and account for everything that passes your lips (or at least try and estimate). Then eat an average of 500 calories per day less than you need, and you'll lose a pound or so a week. After the first month or so, it will turn into a habit and will be just part of your routine.

I'm assuming that underwear should be worn when taking selfie?

I've lost 30 lbs since June through a low carb diet. To work properly the diet should include generous portions of green vegetables; for me that means rapini, green beans and (when I can get it fresh) tabbouleh salad.

However, in cold weather months, there is an exception to carbs: oatmeal. Not the quick cook variety that's been process with most of the nutrients removed to make it cook faster, but the natural large variety. It has to cook for 5 minutes then sit before consuming but it's worth it. It removes all the gaak from your intestines making your digestive system more efficient and it's a slow burn food that doesn't convert to fat - even if you're an elegant couch potato. For aome reason it's not a food I'm partial to when the weather is warm, I wonder why that is?

Pay the money to see a dietitian. My SO did and helped her figure out her portion sizes. When she sticks to it she drops weight to a comfortable level. That and see exercises either on the treadmill at work or the Wii fit plus at home.

Fad diets don't work in the long run. It's about changing habits.

I think it was you who first introduced me to rapini(?) Not sure but I love it. Want to make you my rapini one of these days. :)

True about the oatmeal - the instant stuff is crap.

True. I've never done a fad diet. It's just about eating right all through your life. Sure, I'll occasionally have bacon or cheesecake or a Pizza Hut stuffed crust pizza ;) but not all the time.

Looking forward to it Missy! Rapini is a known immune system booster, a necessity food during flu season.

To stay on a sensible diet you have to cheat every so often, the Osmin Hernandez diet (fish, salad, water) is unsustainable. My last cheat day I had Philly Cheesesteak poutine, with Cheese Wiz no less. But what's become popular is the mangiacake version of it, a true Philly Cheesesteak is made with shaved beef, rapini and provolone.

I've lost 40 lbs since June and it was all about vanity. When I buy a suit I don't go to Moore's, taking out the waistline was not an option.
