You could try some older games. I wouldn't play newer ones. Some of the old Quake3 games so long as you turned down the setting (lower resolution, low texture modes, etc.)

You could look into things like wolfenstein enemy territory for online gaming, it's free based on Quake3 and there are still servers with people playing. (The old wolfenstein one not the new quakewars one--your system isn't fast enough for new games you would just get a slide show).

Wolfenstein is free you can d/l it from lots of websites or limewire or whatever. Try it out and see how it works. If it's playable or not that'll give you some idea what your system is like before you spend $$$ on something that does not work out.

Short answer: no

Your graphics card is not good enough. Get an NVidia or even a real ATI and you should be able to play more games. It'll probably LET you play with the Intel graphics but you will likely regret it.
I can't give a specific answer but if you look up the games online, it should provide pretty good estimates of the base system you need...
Just my opinion of course.

You have enough processor power and RAM, but your on-board video is really lacking except for playing games several years old.
The Intel 950 doesn't do hardware T & L (transform and lighting) which is a
big restriction.
If you go to EB and look at games, check out the hardware requirements on the packaging.
Is this a laptop or a desktop? If it's a desktop, check and see if you have an AGP or preferably a PCI-Express slot for adding a video card.

If I'm reading his post properly he has a 820Mhz processor, P4? That is not fast enough for the games coming on the market right now.

Oh... googling...

So that's a code name, it's actually like 2.4Ghz or something, which yeah, that's fast enough. He needs a better video card though.

Another thing if you are going to be gaming is buy a really good mouse. The mouse that came with it is likely crappy. You may think there is no difference, but good mice have better "resolution", and for most games the ability to control the mouse is key.

Agreed. All you need is a better graphics card. Shell out $70 bucks or so for an NVIDIA 6600GT or so and you'll be able to play some decent games. If you want the latest top games, you'll need to shell out $100+ for some of more recent graphics cards.
