Is Roy on the Circle of Excellence already?
Not as of yet.

I suspect the Blue Jays will approach the Halladay family and do it when they're ready to do it.

I earlier called it a tragedy, however when you are doing something that you have a passion for and love doing, it is not a tragedy. He chose to do it because he loved to do it. If he was killed by a drunk driver, then yes. If a skydiver gets killed skydiving it is not a tragedy, nor is it for those who die on Mt everest.

Yup, my guess is they'll wear a patch or something, and the millisecond the family is ready, he's up on that level on excellence.

Was listening to MLB Radio last night on my way to bowling. Some great reflections on Halladay's career. This comment in particular hit the nail on the head.
"In my 30+ years' of covering baseball I have never met a man who was a greater combination of talent and humility than Roy Halladay"
Another said he hadn't seen a harder worker than Roy Halladay. Often at the ballpark before 6:00 am getting his workout in. One day he showed up at 6:00 and a teammate was already working out. The next morning Halladay showed up at 5:30.

I have the utmost admiration for athletes that don't take their talent for granted. Halladay worked his butt off. He was prepared and focused every time he took the mound. He deserved every nickel he earned, his awards and his success.

Roy Halladay's death may not have been a "tragedy" to many individuals but it certainly was for his family and those that knew the man that was beloved by many. It doesn't matter how one passes away, it is a tragedy for someone to die so young and unexpectantly, no matter the circumstance.

A man losing his life at 40, leaving a wife and two children, is tragic. He was one hell of a pitcher and an awesome individual. Hope we can be there when his name is added to the "LEVEL OF EXCELLENCE"!
Doc will be forever revered by baseball fans and especially Blue Jay fans.
