I'm hoping there's a Pizza Hut executive out there who reads this because I just witnessed some horrendous service at the Pizza Hut on Erin Mills Parkway and Fowler Drive in Mississauga.

The attendant, Anna, was systematically throwing every caller on hold for the 9 minutes that I was waiting for pickup. Then she ignored them. All those people sat on hold until they eventually hung up. The attendant couldn't be bothered to take their orders.

Yes, it was busy. But there were lulls and she chose to do other things rather than take those peoples' orders. I felt bad for them and considered saying something but, hey, I don't need the drama on New Years Eve.

The ironic part was that her badge said she was part of the Management Team.

Fuck, she should be fired for the atrocious level of service she was providing. Not to mention all the money the restaurant lost.

Some suggestions:

1) Order online.

2) Talk to her manager. I wouldn't place too much faith in the "Management Team" badge.

3) Can always e-mail or write corporate management, Pizza Hut Canada. Maybe they have a form on their website.

4) Go somewhere else, like Pizza Pizza. Hey, it's capitalism.

I wasn't affected so I didn't raise a stink. I also looked around for comment cards but there were none to be seen.

I have mixed feelings about this. First of all I think people who go to Pizza Hut personally should be served first than the lazy slobs who call-in. But again why have a phone there if you never going to serve people calling?

Personally I'm sick and tired of physically going to auto-parts places and the nerds at the counter telling me to "hold on" and going to the backroom to look for a part some lazy slob inquiered about on the phone.

I call direct. And apparently a heck of a lot of other people do too because there were around 10 calls in the 10 minutes I was there (none of them had their order taken).

Good idea. I sent them some feedback.

But that's what happened. She was doing all the orders from people who were there and in her face. She couldn't put them on hold (although I'm sure her lazy ass would have if she could have).

Throwing people on hold and then ignoring them is never an acceptable level of service. If it's so busy that you can't handle the volume (which it wasn't), then you ask for help. That's Customer Service 101.

Had a similar problem with the one in Newmarket. We were seated, and waited for an hour, and they kept serving all the people around us who came in after us. I picked up my cell, called the order line, and asked them to send someone to our table right away.

It worked well, and that was the last time I ate in pizza hut.

I also used to call direct, the Pizza Hut At Black Creek dr. to order pizza for pick up.

This employee nevertheless is incompetent and should be fired. Why? Because if those customers were calling to place-in orders why didn't she took the order and placed it in queue so they would start baking the pizza, instead of putting them on hold? Stupid!

Because she was lazy and couldn't be bothered.

I might not fire her but I would definitely give her a serious reprimand and warning. Oh, and I would make damn sure she wasn't going to be a manager!

For minimum wage employers are lucky the employees speak english.

Chris Rock said it best: "Minimum wage means we would pay you less if we could but it is against the law"

It is pizza hut for crying outloud - the food is garbage so why would you expect the service to be any better?

Still, I have to admit no matter how bad pizza hut is, it is still way better than Pizza Pizza.

I'm curious how you know that there isn't another phone in the place, that someone else could have been picking up the lines after Anna was answering the ringing line?

I know that several restaurants I go to actually have more than one telephone, and if the person handling the phone is on another line when the phone rings someone else will pick it up. Then, the other person is actually capable of seeing that another line is waiting, and picking up the call on hold.
