Did anyone hear this or is this a hoax? Can't believe it, this guy was the nicest guy on TV when being interviewed at the olympics for being the first double amputee to run the 400 m. I'm a bit in shock right now.

True....he was arrested early this morning in S/A...apparently there were issues with his GF speaking out against spousal abuse and such...
Globe and Mail reported it he cant be formally charged until he is brought to court...but since they are 6 hours ahead..it should have happened by now...

Yeah the police spokesperson was really dancing around the questions being asked...he's like a national hero and his obvious fall from grace now isnt sitting too well with the powers that be.....

There understandably seems to be a great deal of confusion at present. From: in a country where home invasions are a significant problem he shot her mistaking her for an intruder; to this was a domestic violence murder.

In any event a tragedy, but if the first scenario turns out to be true, even in Canada I don't believe trying to surprise someone at three o'clock in the morning is wise.

That is one of the problems with the American (and apparently South African) mentality of remaining armed to defend yourself against home invaders. More likely than not the "invader" will turn out to be someone you know.
