So true. It's the same work for them to deliver a $25 pizza or $50 sushi platter. I shouldn't have to pay double the tip.
Many drivers are terrible. I once tipped $10 on a $20 order because I wanted it delivered to my hotel room. This hotel allow anyone to use the elevators. The guy never brought it to my room, despite my instructions and left it in the lobby, without even notifying the staff there that they were dropping off my order. After not getting my order, I had to go downstairs to the lobby, message my driver, who never responded, and then talk to the receptonist who pointed out the bag on a nearby table, but wasn't sure what it was. Absolute bottom of the barrel service.
And then there's the drivers who don't even thank you when they hand you the pizza. No eye contact, just rudely hand you your pizza because you tipped $5 on a $25 pizza.
If you go to reddit, the forum is full of pissed off delivery drivers who post pictures of nice houses that they delivered to, but didn't tip well. These drivers had the option to choose or not choose. Just because someone lives in a nice house dosen't mean they should have to tip more.
