Piping/tubing question

Anyone know where one can purchase some form of collapsible/flexible tubing that would be able to hold sheet in a frame of 3' x 5' ?
Something similar to a kite, but not a kite.
Hard to describe but what I was told to use was PVC tubing 1" thick.
Was wondering if there was something thinner in diameter but just as strong.
Any ideas?

Not sure what you mean by "collapsible" but do you mean "you can take it apart"???

Not sure how small you want to go but carbon fibre rods (like those that are used in dome tents) are very strong, very small, and very light.

If you're going to be using this outside and NOT as a kite, you're going to have to cut vents in it else it will blow away with the slightest breeze.

BTW: when you say PVC tubing, 1" thick, are you talking about the wall thickness or the diameter of the tube?

If you're not particularly interested in plastic, you could try steel conduit. It is rigid, cheap, and light. You can also buy corners, angles, curves etc already made. (it is also cheaper than pvc pipe too).
