Lately I've had a few bouts with "pink eye" (conjunctivitis). I usually just use the polysporin eyedrops and it clears up within a day or so. Just when I think it's gone for good, a week or two later it reappears...my doctor thinks it could be an allergic reaction to dust, etc. My eye looks horrible right now - any advice?

Conjunctivitis has a number of different causes, including:
  • Viruses
  • Bacteria (such as gonorrhea or chlamydia)
  • Irritants such as shampoos, dirt, smoke, and pool chlorine
  • Allergies, like dust, pollen, or a special type of allergy that affects some contact lens wearers

Ask your doctor for a blood test.

See an Optometrist. He'll probably prescibe Garamycin(Gentamicin sulfate)

Well, she just tested me last week for all STD's etc. and I'm totally clean...(don't want anyone to be worried, lol). I should mention that I've also had allergic type symptoms such as sneezing for the last little while. (The eye problems started around the same time).

The problem with conjunctivitis is that it is usually highly contageous. I can remember when my kids used to get it and I would have to keep them home from school until it cleared up. Whatever the cause, Chloe, you need to be careful that it doesn't spread -- not an easy task in this business! ;)

The truth is I really don't think it's a virus and/or contagious (my doctor said it isn't anyway)..I suspect it is just some sort of allergy/irritant. Come to think of it, I've been going swimming much more often than usual lately (trying to get in shape) and chlorine does tend to bother my eyes (the problem also does tend to reappear shortly after I've been swimming)...I don't want to scare anyone away!

monocular redness would not be typically caused by airborne allergens -- both eyes would be affected in such cases.

Your eye should be assessed by an optometrist. An ophthalmologist would only be appropriate if you require surgery -- your problem does not require surgery.

Really Retired.....REALLY!
You could also try getting goggles for swimming and see if that helps.

I always thought they prescribed a course of anti-biotics over 7 days and you had to complete the full course, even if it does clear up after 1 day. Also anything that touches your eyes needs to be changed like face cloths and pillow cases.

Having recently stared at length into those beautiful eyes, I can vouch as follows;

1] the one eye in question does not look bad at all, some minor redness,

2] it is certainly not contagious {at least not to this little camper},

3] staring at length into those eyes is extremely seductive and will create a tunnel effect whereby the rest of the world seems to disappear for hours at a time,

4] they really should come with a warning sticker since they can be habit forming.
You shouldn't spend so much time staring into he mirror, Chloe.

Instead of this clumsy shill damage control stuff why not do the responsible thing, take a little break from work, go to see a doctor, follow your treatment program, and let us all know when the problem is gone.

Here's joe's only previous post, on the top 3 escorts of 2006:

Edit: I got a pm from joe insisting he isn't Chloe, later a mod says they have different ISP's. You can all judge for yourselves whether you think he's Chloe, or just a Chloe booster. I stand by my advice above though: Chloe, go to a doctor, take your treatment, and let us know when you're well. Whether it's the least or the worst of the things mentioned on this thread it's all treatable so just do that and report back when all's OK.

Fuji - I have now sent you a 2nd PM offering a 2nd item of proof that this is not Chloe, at least have the courtesy to respond back to me per 6.03(6) of the Rules of Professional Conduct.
I'm in no position to judge whether you are chloe or not. One of the mods says you have a different ISP. That's a point in your favour. My saying you're Chloe or you're not Chloe isn't likely to have any more weight than Friddrik saying it; less weight in fact. I'm just a guy who used search, something anywhere here can do. Other than your posting history I have no reason for coming to any conclusion.

edit: His PM to me offered to exchange some personal information, something I don't do. Maybe someone else wants to take him up on his offer.

Then you should delete your original post. It is completely predicated on your judging me to be Chloe.

You pretty much know in your heart at this point that you got it wrong. Why not make a simple retraction and end it.
He won't and he shouldn't.

Fuji is a well respected member of Terb with many excellent reviews and posts to his credit. You have 5.

I edited out the stupid comment. That's as far as I go. People can draw their own conclusions, I'm not here to tell anybody what to think.

I don't want to beat a dead horse here but feel I should, at the very least, respond to the shill accusation.

I've always prided myself on the fact that unlike a few SPs (certainly not all), I have NEVER written any type of shill of myself. I have no reason to - I'm as busy as I want to be at the moment (not too busy and I'm perfectly happy with that). This is perhaps why I'm reviewed pretty infrequently (at least on this board) and also perhaps because most of my clients are 'regulars'. If a new client asks how I feel about reviews, I usually tell them I'm not crazy about them...I don't have a No-Review-Policy per se but do like to keep a pretty low profile.

Lastly, if I were ever to write a shill of myself (which I won't), I am far too intelligent to do so in such a "clumsy" and obvious way. Heck, I'd at least establish myself first as a somewhat respected poster/contributor and not blatantly recommend myself. (No offense Joe). And to quote Forrest Gump, "And that's all I have to say about that."

Btw, I AM doing the responsible thing and taking a little bit of time off work (when did I say I wasn't?) My eye seems to be 100% better...regardless I am still going to see the eye doctor on Monday. :)

Another btw, Joe_in_the_lounge and I have PM'ed each other back and forth on this board in the past. I certainly wasn't having a conversation with myself!
