I think 12-3 would be the busiest during the day.
Don;t go Monday night around 7:00. I was in town around that time, decided to stop by for a beer - not one dancer floor / stage / bar was seen. I knew it would be very quiet at that time and to not expect much and possibly nothing,... had hoped maybe there would there would be one dancer that caught my eye.
Is that a realistic option without causing some sort of problem?
I was used to just paying cover, walking by the bouncer with a quick greeting. Then in January, the guy stops me and tells me how "tip" etiquette works at the club basically putting his hand out. I gave him $5, but the principle of the change in policy annoyed me. Have not been back for a night since.
I always detested those kinds of extra charges. I especially hated the guy in the washroom who expected to be paid for handing me a paper towel. I'm glad that's no longer a thing.
At Chez Paree in Montreal, you don't have a choice as they have baked this into their door fee and the bouncers escort you to your seat.
At Pigale, he (Gil) is will ask for a tip.
First time I just said I only had large bills and showed him $100s and he let me pass as he didn't have enough to change it.
The second time, I just said I didn't have any small bills and walk to the bar area.
The third time, I just acknowledged his request with a nod and just walk towards the bar area. Now when he sees me, he just says welcome to the club and I just pass without any incident.
I think the only time you are expected to tip the bouncers on entry, is if they guide you to their booths in the semi upper levels around the edges.
He is still there on Thursday to Saturday from the last few times that I have been there.
