What are the chances of some guy randomly filming an empty street then along comes a pickup full of people which swerves right in front of him?

And the cameraguy didn't even flinch or put down the camera to go help the people. Almost seems scripted.

It looked like multiple deaths, or at least very serous injury. I agree with your logic, but don't see how it could be scripted. There are millions of video cameras in use each day. From time to time, one of them is going to capture the bizarre or the tragic.

I'm guessing from the title of the video that it happened somewhere in Latin America. This is a very common way for people to get around in rural areas, and pickups transporting people are not necessarily in great shape.

What is equally strange is the web site where it is posted. Right beside the video are "Related videos - Fat Girl face plants on mechanical bull and Hilarious Dance face plant." Do they not realize people likely died in that video? So it goes in the "hilarious" category?

..... and the way the cameraman keeps shooting up the road as if he is anticipating something to happen .....

It's posted on terb for the entertainment value, isn't it?

Surely it isn't a warning thread, a caution to how we shouldn't drive?

Hmm .....

Maybe the cameraman WAS anticipating something coming down the road - which was that truck full of people.

The clip started with a house with a sign outside and two people standing around. Then he moved slightly to the road, as if he was trying to catch the vehicle coming down from the top of the hill. Then he focussed on the truck coming down.

Could he be filming a group of people arriving at the house, instead catching the truck losing control at the botom of the hill?

My thoughts exactly.

Maybe it was just someone trying out their new camera?
It's not like the camera was focused on the road before the truck was visible.
The camera was focused on the buildings, then pointed and zoomed to the people, and then the truck once it became visible and quickly started to sway.

No, it was not posted for your entertainment.
It was posted because I think it is some incredible footage and newsworthy.
Just because there was no intended lesson or moral to the story does not mean it must be for your entertainment.

Unfortunately something like that could happen here. The law states that as long as all the seatbelts are used up in the cab, others are allowed to ride in the back...believe it or not.

I think these are posted to pass on something that got a strong reaction, a "holy shit!" or "what the fuck!" isn't too far from a "wow that's wicked!"
Something like the thrill people get from horror movies, gruesome stuff that gets a cringe or shudder. Some people are entertained by this stuff, that's why it circulates on the internet.

B

burt-oh-my!

I think it was fake. If yo look, you can't see any of the people in the truck moving, before or after the roll. And after, if you look at the people on the ground, noone is moving, not even a little bit. All the people moving are those who went over after the supposed crash. Watch the last guy to fall out of the back of the truck - he is not waving his arms or doing anything as he falls out. I think they are dummies.

I thought the law had changed a few years back? There are to be no more occupants in a vehicle than the number of seat belts available. It happened after a tragic accident in a van, where many people were not using seat belts because there were too many passengers for the amount of belts and several people died.

Anyone remember that?

Perhaps the law is different for trucks...I do remember years ago a friend who was studying law told me that it was legal to ride in the back of a truck, but I am not sure that it's legal right now in Ontario.
