Answering a question about jobs creation, Perry attempted to name the three agencies he has proposed shutting. He named two, but could not come up with the third, even after appearing to consult notes.

One point Asterix, the days of the party leadership soliciting candidates to run for President are long gone. You can certainly say that some of those who have chosen to run, should not have but to imply that the party has asked them to run is inacurate.God what a bunch of unprepared imbeciles the GOP has offered us.

What makes it worse is that the question he was asked, was what would he do to work with Democrats across the ailse. Perry didn't answer and instead decided to spin off in his own direction about the three agencies he would cut. No one was pressing him on it, he brought it up himself. It was his script, likely in notes right in front of him, and in desperation he actually turned to Ron Paul to help him out. He still couldn't answer. This may be the only time in modern debate history where a candidate got blindsided by his own gotcha question.I just heard the whole 50 second clip on the radio. Wow. That was painful.
To be fair, the current electoral system favour actors over thinkers. He might still be a good decision maker, and reasonably informed, but just isn't the kind of guy who can think on his feet fast enough to look good on TV. That's going to kill his campaign, but it's probably a negative against the modern political system, that favours actors over thinkers.
