I wonder how many others out there remember Percy Saltzman, Toronto's first tv weatherman. Indeed, he was the first person to appear on a Toronto tv broadcast, on this day, way back in 1954. He's also been credited for combining entertainment with the weather, i.e. a toss of the chalk after marking up the weather board. No fancy computer graphics then.

Mike Filey's column in today's Sun says that the old codger, born in 1915, is still alive and living in North York. Well best wishes to Percy and thanks for the memories.

Uncle Chichimus

With token human, Peter Whitall (sp?). Yes, I seem to recall an episode involving 'a flying cup and saucer'. I think Ramar of the Jungle came on a Buffalo station, a little before or a little after Uncle Chichimus. Always liked that too.
