It'll probably just get swept away as other things come along.

Somehow I expect that this unfortunate lady got in front of the sweeper, without the sweeper operator seeing her approach.

Heavy equipment presents the operator with huge blind spots that a lot of the time is by the very nature of the equipment, almost impossible to design the risk out.

I get training on this as part of health and safety job site training every year.

Last time around you could virtually drive a bulldozer ( because a few key strokes can control it.)

Simulation had a split screen to show a view of the bulldozer, and the view from the cab. There were huge areas you could not see.

Goal was to establish eye contact and communicate clearly with those who had a need to traverse the area where you were working.

In one spot due to blade arm location I could not see from cab view a pickup truck until the last moment.
A pickup is gobs larger than a pedestrian

Those damn street sweepers! They're just so damn quiet! Just sneak right up on you, and BAM! Swept away! Can't they make these machines more noisy and bigger so they're easier to see and hear?!

They need to play music like an ice cream truck. Ever hear of anyone getting run over by an ice cream truck?...

Those things don’t move very fast, right? I’m trying to remember the last time I saw one and I think it was going about 15 km/hr.

Gotta be a blind spot or maybe he was backing up?

Christ what a shame, for the elderly woman and now this poor dude that has to live with himself.

Anybody else see the weirdness in the vibe of the world yesterday during the solstice? All kinds of weird shit happened in and around my friends and life.

In my experience I see too many pedestrians who do not pay attention (or respect) to road traffic. True that they have right of way but at times I'm just stunned at how oblivious they are to traffic on the road or in parking lots. It's a two way street, drivers and pedestrians both need to pay attention.

Maybe they're just swept up in their thoughts.

She was 85.

To be honest I think it's a way I would like to go at 85. I do not really want to live past that age and be a burden for my kids... Or end up in a nurse home worst then jail.

No long disease. No dementia. No other people hurt. Just me walking down the street... I'm 85 and now boum gone.

One of the reason I currently live a crazy life and why I have done so many shit (especially with girls)... We could be gone tomorrow!
