I've always thought paypal is a great service for the ladies to use as a sort of insurance policy. If they are uncomfortable seeing a new hobbyist, easy online down payment solves at least part of the problem. But it seems no one does this. Any idea why the ladies tend to avoid online payment?

Because you can open the fraud case after the session and you give your money back. That's why. Otherwise just because I got the payment it doesn't mean you have money on your account.Call it Paypal scam and many people lost lots of money and merchandise because that scam.

Iris is correct.

There are lots of guys who get ripped off by PayPal thinking that the money is there. It's not.

Paypal has seller protection, even against fraud

not looking for a positive answer, just wondering the reason behind the consensus. Always wondered why PayPal was so taboo. Now I know. Thanks for the strangely hostile reactions.

I think another key issue is that even if the person pays and doesn't make some sort of claim for a refund. The SP is now creating a trail. She has to then explain why all these dudes are giving her money. Similiarly for the customer he is creating a traceable trail.

Cash from an ATM given to a SP is much harder to trace.

In other words it makes it harder for LE to create a connection between client and provider by avoiding Paypal, credit cards and e transfers.

Nothing wrong with PayPal as long as you use the service correctly. PayPal has been in business A LONG time and have set the standards for many new "banking polices".

The main issue is that PayPal won't provide any type of insurance for "thin air" (otherwise its just an agreement of me just giving you the money and expecting nothing in return), there actually has to be some type of exchange or goods or service (consideration). Its up to YOU as the seller to invoice for the goods/services and delivery. If you fail to deliver as advertised, a claim can be opened and you are at the risk of losing your money. Just the mention of anything sexual, the seller will lose their funds.

Also, income tax and HST implications?

I spoke with a criminal lawyer about 6 months back. He is a hobbyist, we have a friend in common, so I sometimes bump into him. He told me when he hobbies, he prefers paying the agency using credit card. When he goes for the visit, he goes cash free.

His line of reasoning is that if he gets arrested, he won't have any cash or a wallet on him. That would make it more difficult for the Crown to prove he is paying for sexual services, because you can't pay for something if you don't have money to purchase that something. I don't know if this logic is iron clad, but it seems sensible on the surface.
I don't get that line of thinking....

He's paid with a credit card. Presumably, his credit card (though I suppose he could pay with prepaid VISA).

There would be a paper trail in neon if he used his own credit card.

I've only ever been given a prepaid CC once as a gift and I had to do all kinds of things to activate it. I remember it being a pain.

I've bought prepaid Visa CC or American Mastercard, the kind
of gift card you can find in drug mart or supermarket, and prepaid
CC from RBC as gifts for friends. Maybe your CC is a different kind
of prepaid CC but those gift cards I bought were activated at the
time of purchase as far as I know.

Never sell a car via PayPal. I can tell you that. It's a scam waiting to happen. PayPal does not protect car sales or other large equipment sales. What happens is the fraudster uses some bank account or another and transfers the money to PayPal. He then transfers money to your PayPal account to complete the sale.. Then, a few days later, the bank in question simply says that there is no money there and PayPal reverses the transaction and you're stuck with a negative balance.

Always sell a car cash, or Bank Draft and make sure your bank verifies the bank draft is legit and the money is in your account.

Failing that, a good old cheque and you keep the car for a week until the cheque clears.

Other than that, "have a nice day"
