Hi
just curious
I am looking for a new phone and although I already have 2 with one company (I don't have a home phone lol) I am curious,,, is pay as you go is the way to go?
-I do not need it to work anywhere outside of ontario.
-I am usng it mainly for another adult company I am opening so I need a reasonable package.
-I do not care what the phone looks like ...... just that it works well.
-I have NO LOYALTY to my current service provider.

ANY info would be more than appreciated pm me or email me busty_kara@hotmail.com
Thank you
kara

Pay as you go is really only good if you are only going to use the phone for emergencies or occasional calls (less than 75 minutes a month)

signals

I like Fido (pay as you go) for its simplicity and privacy. With pay as you go, you never have to talk to anyone from Fido and you never have to sign anything either. Hell, you don't even have to register the phone in your real name. It's not the cheapest at 15 cents per minute, but it depends on what's important to you. I've never had a problem with signals inside the GTA. Their phones aren't bad looking either (and very reasonably priced). Right now, you can purchase one of their Nokias for about $125 and that includes 300 free minutes.

</sounding like a Fido rep>

East of Toronto, Fido has almost no coverage once past Bowmanville. If you don't travel there, it's not a bad option. FIDO's pay as you go rate is .15/min...cheaper than the others I believe.

I have Fido's pay as you go and it's a very neat little phone to boot. It's true that reception isn't always good - nothing at all in Kingston but perfect reception in Ottawa - go figure. It's actually my "business" phone so it's used for a lot more than emergencies etc., unless of course booking an appointment with me is considered an emergency. lol

Are concerned about the charges per minute? Is there a particular time of the day/week when you expect to use the phone the most? Do you care about contracts (monthly vs annually)?

Shop around - the market is still fairly competitive.

Telus is great for me - but pay as you go is for occasional users - I just went back to a pay plan because my usage was costing me too much with the pay as u go plan.

I have a good plan from Rogers AT&T. Yes, Rogers is evil, but the plan rocks and gives me free evenings and weekends, 900 daytime minutes, and free long distance within Ontario, all for $125 per month. Additional minutes are, I believe, around 10 cents, and it's rare for me to use any of them. Once every two years or so I can upgrade my phone for a token amount of money, so long as I renew my contract at the same time.

I haven't found a pay as you go plan yet that could beat it, especially with the amount of minutes *I* use.

Here you

For coverage, you must use either Bell or Telus, they are the only ones connected to the bigger networks.

In general, pay-as-you-go costs about 3 times the price per minute as pre-paid plans, but there are not contracts or credit checks.

Here is THE site for answering your quesiton: http://www.geckobeach.com/cellular/default.asp

This site answers all your quesitons, reviews telephones, shows area converage by company, and includes comparison for both paid and pay-as-you-go plans

Pay particular attention to SIMpro, a new company ... they used to be only for corporate accounts, but I think they are changing. i don't know about their converage, but a $550 prepaid yearly plan gets you 800 anytime minutes per month +.

Good Luck
