Been many times great place. I usually rent a condo in Jomtien Beach about 10 minutes outside of Pattaya alot more quiet but still close to all the action.

Please see attached info I gave to another terbite:

Hi there,

I saw your post about your offer to help.

I've been wanting to go for the longest time, but was never able to due to schedule etc..., but I've made up my mind to go this year or early next year. If you could answer the following questions I would greatly appreciate it
1. When is the best time to go? (time of year) Best time weather wise is Oct. thru March. Some places will charge more as this is the High Season.

2. Where should I stay? I don't want to spend a lot or go in some place fancy, but something decent would be good. Mostly it depends how long you are staying. I am currently renting a room in a hotel for 5500 Baht/mo. Nothing fancy, but it is clean, private bath, A/C, Cable TV, Fridge, Dresser, King Bed, what you would find in your average room, it is secure and has a safe at the front desk. I would consider it 2 Star and I am in a great location.

3. What should I watch out for? Generally it is very safe, I hve no problem walking around by myself at night, just stay in travelled areas. Beware the very rare pick pocket. I only carry the money I will need for the night on me, never more than 50 bucks. Use common sense and all is fine, a lot of tourist everywhere. When travelling alwasys carry cash, valuables, etc on your person.
4. What should I visit? This depends on your taste, if you like temples, golf, Floating Market, Bridge on the River Kwai, it is all availble, there are tourist places everywhere that offer and endless supply of tours all over the country country, all are very reasonable. Fishing is an option, I went scuba diving for a day (first time in my life) for about a 120 bucks. Includes p/u at hotel, drop off, food, all equipmet, etc.
5. Is it worth it to hire a girl to take me around/negotiate for me etc...

I met a guy from Belgium last week who hired a girl for 10 Days to be with him. it cost him 12,000 Baht, about 400 bucks. He would also have to feed her and they expect you to buy them something. But they work as an interperter and can show you around, I would suggest getting to know her first as you can tire of her very fast.

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated it :)
Let me know when you a planning a trip and for how long and I will offer more suggestions.

A must do in Thailand are the soapie massage parlors. The big three in Pattaya are Sabai Dee, Sabai Land and Sabai Room. Rasputin is supposed to be a good one as well and Honey Body Massage. They are overpriced as they mainly cater to tour groups but worth a try once.

Yes, it is a must do. I believe it is around 1700-1800 Baht for full service. There is another one around Walking Street that charges 700 Baht (which is worth it for the experience), anything extra is neg.

Does seem kinda pricey for Thailand. Can usually get yourself a beautiful girl for the night for under $ 60.

So I checked it out last week. It is either 3500 or 3700 Baht for 90 minutes with 2 woman. If you want 3, it is 4400 Baht for 90 min. I went inside, I saw on guy sitting there. It looked like he was waiting for the girls or for his turn. There were a few girls at a table outside sitting at a table. These girls are all bi. You can use a dildo on them, or they will use on you, basically anything goes. Check out the link. Personally, while it looks interesting, none of the girls really do anything for me. I am very picky when it comes to Asian women, only about 1% really do anything for me. But 1% of 50 millions is still a lot.

So if anyone is over 50 and wants to come here for longer than 3 months, it is possible to get the Retirement Visa here rather than getting it in Canada before arriving. Getting it here means you do not have to get all the medical checks, police check, etc. Also, and most important, you do not have to deposit the 800,000 Baht they require. I got mine yesterday, and it is good till Nov 2012. It also avoids all the Visa Runs to Cambodia. If intersted let me know.

By the way if anyone is coming here for the first time, I would recommend checking out the tailors. You can get a great suit or a lot of other stuff tailor made for a great price. If you wear dress shirts, you can get one tailor made, 100% cotton for about 15 bucks. I had some made last year, excellent quality and fit. A shirt like this in TO would be well over a hundred bucks. For me it is great as I have a hard time buying dress shirts of the rack. There are tons of these places around town, so shop around, these guys love to haggle. I would avoid the ones on Walking Street, they seem to be more expensive.

The Indian tailors? They are big time scammers, I would stay away from them. They show you a fabric and then substitute it for a cheaper one, the stuff is crap quality and won't last at all. Tons of complains about them from the people naive enough to deal with them. They are annoying too and stand in front of their shops all day trying to shake your hand and then swear at you if you ignore them. They just outsource the work to Thai sweatshops anyway which you can deal directly with and save baht if you really want to.

I agree some of these guys are a pain in ass and are very pushy. That is why one should shop around. However, whenever when I have purchased something, I never had any issues with quality and received what I ordered.

Try Majestic tailors in Bangkok. Sukhumvitt and Soi Nana. Nana Plaza is behind them.
Been dealing with them for years. Great quality and workmanship.
Google them for their website.

I got back to Toronto a few weeks and now im stating to feel the withdraw pains of Pattaya. Its such a great place for a monger/hobbiest. I stayed in the LK Metro area and would def recommend the area. There are a lot of hotels in the area to fit your budget. Most of the surrounding area is cheaper then being on beach road.

For me the place to be was Insomnia. its a club on beach road. it opens at 12 or 1 am and this is where all the gogo, bar and freelancer girls go after their bar closes. I didn't care much for the house music but just have a good time and SMILE and the ladies will all come to you. give her 1500 bth (50$) for taxi money in the morning and everyone is happy.

or if your in walking st early hit up a gogo. i liked Casanovy and Alcatraz. the girls were super nice. 2 girls in Alcatraz (prison themed gogo) were dressed like cops/wardens and when i came in they handcuffed me to them and forced me to make out with them.

Why cant i be over there now...sigh.

Hey, I have been here since July 2, I am planning on going home June 17. All those places are a lot of fun. LK Metro is a great area, I am usually there every night at some point. I am getting worried about my withdrawals when I get home. I am glad to hear you had fun!

What are your flight routings and how long do they take, inbound and outbound? Its so damned far away. I flew business and first on my trip, but I won't do that every time. So how do you survive so long a trip?
