1000% agree, they feel entitled driving 100kmph in the passing lane, even when the middle lane is clear. So I am forced to do the wrong thing and pass them using the middle lane.
The other thing that pisses me off are the people on the 401 suddenly stopping for a crossing canada duck. It almost caused a pile up a few days ago. It may be against the law but I think some human life is worth more than a duck.

As I recall passing on the right is not against the rules of the road.

SLOWER TRAFFIC KEEP RIGHT
The sign does not say, unless you are going 100.

I also don't understand people who drive slower than the flow of traffic in HOV lanes.
The point of HOV is not for you to have more open space to look at.

I often find the right lane is open as my passing lane.
I hope this doesn't offend you guys, I tend to drive in the HOV lane almost 100% of the time due to my green license plate. Usually I drive slow to not cause an accident while texting to set up an appointment for my next illicit rendezvous!. However, on occasion , after jacking off while looking at porn on my huge screen, my foot hits the pedal and zoom!

There are court cases that have held you should not do anything to spare an animal's life that endangers other motorists, including sudden stops

It's not, but the custom is not to do it if possible. I have definitely seen people leave the middle lane for no other reason than to block someone coming up fast in the right lane and they're just as evil as the ones hogging the left. It should be common sense that if someone is about to pass you anywhere in about 5-10 seconds that you stay where you are until they have gone by. Failing to do so is dangerous driving on top of being a passive aggressive prick

Actually, I believe while driving on multi lane roadways - you are supposed to remain as far right as possible - meaning moving with traffic. You are supposed to move left to pass then move back - not sit in the middle at 80 in a 100 or even 100 in the passing lane.
Get really full of yourself and you want to pass everybody, so the passing lane becomes your travel lane ☠🖕...

I usually just pass them on the right and will stay in that lane if it is open.

Don't sweat the small stuff.

I recently spent a week driving in Newfoundland. It was stunning how drivers would pass and then get back in the right lane. It was almost like being in Europe.

I think we have poor education for cars, trucks, bicycles, and pedestrians on the road.

And having many multi-lane highways makes people mentally lazy and lets them think it is OK to be lane hogs.
I agree, I have been to Europe many times driving on highways, most recently Denmark,Norway and Sweden where the left lane is used for passing only and then vehicles move immediately to the right. Also, many countries have speed limits of 120, 130 kms and some places more. Most of their highways are in much better condition than here and drivers generally follow the rules of the road.

It would seem like three lanes are also too much information for peoples brain. With two lanes, drive right-pass left works. Add in a third lane and they get lost.

What about all the idiots who pull over the side of the highway , to look through their car, which backs up the entire flow of traffic

I’d like to see some of these idiots holding up traffic in the left lane try that on the autobahn in Germany.
They’ll be in for a big surprise.

And this is another bad etiquette behavior: pass on the right. I often see too many idiots trying to pass the truck on the right not actually allowing it to move to the right lane.
