While billions of dollars in American aid poured into Jordan over the past decade, a secret stream of money was flowing in the opposite direction as the country’s ruler, King Abdullah II, spent millions on extravagant homes in the United States. In total, Canada has sent more than $750 million to Jordan over the last decade. Jordan is now the sixth largest recipient of Canadian aid dollars.
Nice to know where our tax dollars are going.

It's an open secret that financial aid to the Third World gets skimmed by guys like Ab.

Some Third World countries essentially exist by playing China, Russia and the West off against each other and getting them to fund "humanitarian projects". Of course, maybe a couple of cents in every dollar actually gets invested in those projects. The rest goes to luxury living for plutocrats.

1. tax evasion is tax fraud. Tax avoidance is not.
2. most ppl on the list were from Ukraine, Russia, Nigeria etc. Nouveau riches have no time for little illegalities. They must do big ass illegalities to compensate for lack of old money/ inheritance etc etc. Canadians on the list may well have done less illegal stuff than politicians/businessmen from 3rd world countries.

2. like I said probably a few illegalities but in canada I doubt. And we won't see Shakira in prison The lawyers have developed hardly proven mechanism to stay in the gray zone fiscally (but in the greedy shitty zone morally).

60 years ago would be around 1960. Just about at the tail end of the Baby Boom.

I haven't done extensive research on that era but I heard that taxes were much lower then. productivity was much higher and governments were much less expensive.

P.S. Also note that the rise in the cost of living also coincide with the rise in unions and union wages.
