cost varies depending on the mg% but i think anywhere from $20-$40 pill is fairly accurate, but don't quote me.

it comes in pill form from the pharmacy/drug company, but many users will scrape off the coating, crush up the white inside and sniff it. so i hear.

also, bear in mind, like many painkiller drugs, you build up a tolerance... so while it used to take you 1 or 2 pills to feel something, you may need many more, even up to 10 or 20 to feel something, depending on how long you have been using.

CAn anyone describe it...Pills? Capsules? Cost?
it is a pill, some pills have a time release on them but you can suck that off easy enough and you can crush and snort it real easy. 5-40$ depending on the strength of the pill and the quantity you buy.

Oxycontin is prescribed for long term pain relief. It is released into the system over 12 hours.
True, but if you crush it into powder and snort through nose, the effect is immediate and the rush feels close to that of coke. A friend of mine has got life-time supply of oxy after he suffered an spinal accident. Sometimes he gives them out like candies at parties!

had surgery recently and am using them and wow first few times i used them what a high, now not so much. I am on my way weaning off of them from a max dose of 2 every 4 hours that i was setting my alarm for. now i use 1-3 a day depending on how i feel some days i have just 1 all day. still have lots of left overs if he needs some j/k.

It's just matter of time before oxy will be banned - along with many other sedatives in the past - morphine, rohypnol, GHB, some of them were even available OTC without prescription. The new ones will come out to replace them, but ppl will find ways to use them recreationally, then will be banned again...

Lots of my lower-end clients are on the shit. The have / pretend to have back problems to get prescribed. Is he visiting his doctor frequently?

I was on oxy for a while for - wait for it - spinal problems in '06. I hated it. It made my eyes bloodshot and blurry and I had continual diarrhea. But then, I took it the way the doc suggested and didn't snort it, which may have been far more fun. ;-)

In the end, I figured the back pain was preferable and threw the pills away. I guess I could have made a couple of $100's selling them to some of my clients. :-o

That is why addicts crush them to get around the time release, otherwise they do exactly what they are supposed to - provide high level pain relief.
guess you missed the next few words in my post where i said you suck the time release off. crushing the time release does nothing and it burns when you snort it. fuck does it burn.

Some people fool the doctor or doctors into giving them prescriptions, this soon catches up with them when they check to see he is getting supplies from more than one source. There are also desperate people that are not addicted but need the money that fool doctors for supply to sell for profit. Resourcefulness is a trait of addicts. Send him an anonymous not to scare the bejesus out of him.

Guess the defendants (see #19) chose not to share all their secrets, and thankfully I don't have personal experience.

You don't say what makes you think his problem is oxycontin, did you find pills in the house?

Also not clear how old he is, but there are a lot of medical conditions that can cause the symptoms you describe. Also medications.

I don't know what the privacy laws are there, but can you speak to his doctor? Maybe take him in for a physical and discuss his symptoms then?

Good luck...it's hard when the parent/child roles start to switch.
