Goals are not the only measure of a hockey player.

If you look at assists, you'll find that Gretzky would still be the all time NHL scoring leader
#1 Gretzky: 894 G, 1,963 A, 2,857 Pts
#2 Jagr: 766 G, 1,155 A, 1,921 Pts [in 246 more games played than WG, about 3 seasons]

I was never Gretzky's biggest fan because I wasn't (and still not) an Oilers fan, but the guy did put up numbers that no one else will ever reach.

I referred to Bossy and Mario as the two best "goal scorers"
Nothing more and nothing less.
We all know Bossy is a goal scorer and not an assist guy.
He scored more goals in his career than assists.
Btw, Mario had more assists than games played so he wasn't just a supreme goal scorer.

Have you seen what the goalies looked like during that era?
Ever heard of Darren Pang? You will never again see anyone like him play goalie in the NHL.

Goal average per game for Bobby and Brett Hull are almost identical.

Ovie has failed to register a shot on goal the past two games. Definitely an unusual stat for him.
Still, as long as he stays healthy the next couple of years he should break Gretzky's goal record.
Despite the Capitals not being a very good team.

Ovie update. 5 goals in 29 games and on pace for 14 in an 82 game season. His worst output was 33 in 82 games back in 2016-17. Pretty inexplicable considering he's still averaging 3.75 shots per game. I certainly hope someone hasn't "gotten" to him.

Not going to catch Gretzky, after about 2,000+ one-timer slappers, it takes its toll on his wrists, the slapshot hurts even more.
