Duh ??? Really?

Why worry about it? If you give your real name, it's not as though I would walk up to you and start talking to you in public, in a mall etc. Appointments are made DISCRETION in mind-- that includes after the appointment. I have a life outside of SPing as do my clients. Out of respect, I would not approach a client that I've seen in public - That's just dumb - regardless of if they are a regular or not. I would expect the same respect from a client as well.
Aren't you the same Noir that was working for Aphrodisias Companions? They were banned for threatening to exposing members real names.

A serious allegation has been made from credible sources that this agency has threatened to expose a terbite's real name/handle.

As everyone is aware, I have zero tolerance for this kind of behavior, paid advertiser or not. Handle has been suspended until further notice.

And your point is?

Yes, I am the same Noir -- but I do not operate in the same fashion as Aphrodisia's Companions once did. Regardless of whether I have your real name or not, I simply would not be stupid enough to approach a former/current client of mine in public in hopes of having a conversation / in hopes of shooting the shit.

As I stated before, I have a life outside of this industry, so I really wouldn't want my personal and "SP" lives to mesh for myself, or for my clients. Aphrodisia's Companions obviously made a stupid choice by threatening to expose handles/identities - however, I have been graced with good fortune; I have since seen clients that I saw through A/C with Mirage-- and they have not been harmed by the threats made by A/C.

I don't know what you are insinuating, but I do know that I provide a quality service. I enjoy what I do just as hobbyists enjoy their hobbying. Why ruin things for them and myself? So what if I worked for a fly-by-night agency? (Was I really going to know any better, without having much experience in the industry? Keep in mind that I have only worked in this industry for 2 months now, not including that bit of time that I took off after A/C closed down.) I have since learned, and moved on.

Oh, and yes, I was threatened by A/C as well. (Yeah, they knew my real name, address etc...) They threatened to expose my choice of "employment" to family and friends - so yeah, it can completely affect people on the other-side of the business as well!

The question was:

do you give a girl your real first name when you go see her?
Keep in mind, that you can always provide a fake name when booking the appointment, then provide your real name to the SP when you see her. When people booked through A/C they had to provide their information (real name/address/landline phone#) - since A/C was an out-call based agency. They cross-referenced the information against white-pages before sending any of the ladies out to calls, for security purposes. The fact that they a) decided to keep the information b)utilized it to harm clients, is horrible -- however it bears no reflection on me, or my level of discretion. Period. ^_^

Hunter - providing a first name is different than providing a plethora of information about yourself. Say you booked an incall (so no reference to your location/name/address/phone numbers etc.) and you met an SP. You tell her your name is Micheal, even though it is Bob - it really doesn't make a difference. The SP shouldn't be approaching you in public, whether she calls you by using your real name or not. The action in question should be the SP approaching you in public...not if she calls you by your real (or fake) name. (either way, you would deny, deny, deny, right?) ^_- jmho

Well whomever you learned your wonderful consumer relation skills from you owe them a debt of gratitude. (Saying "duh" to customer concerns is very classy by the way.)

My point is should a good understand/sensitivity of what privacy means to the members here since you worked for an agency that allegedly threatened clients. I would a thought you would have learned from the agency's experience but it seems you appear to have a crass attitude towards customer concerns.

Shooting the shit - means to have light/meaningless conversation.

The *duh* was in regards to the SP's that contact their clientele when they have not been given permission to do so. That is indeed a very *duh* ( stupid) thing to do. Sorry that it was taken out of context.

Customer concerns? I was under the impression that this thread has started as a general question. The post that I posted previously should not have given off the impression that I don't concern myself with my customers well being/enjoyment. I find that it is important to provide quality customer service - and if/once you saw me, you would truly understand how important that is to me.

I am sorry that you feel that I have a crass attitude; but I really don't feel as though I come across that way at all. I know my level of customer service; and if you wish to assume the level that it is at, based on a lobby thread, so be it. (I can't stop you...)

In terms of the sensitivity - of course I understand what they have gone through. I went through it myself with A/C - however, I don't know how I could convey this through a post. My experience with A/C did not make me more "sensitive" or "attuned" to this, because I already understood the level/need for discretion. (not only for my clients but for myself as well!)

Once again, whether you provide a real name or not; I would have more consideration and common sense, not to approach you in public and try to start speaking with you.

** I edited the title of my first post to display what I meant - as to not offend any one else. Sorry about the confusion...*

Whats the big deal IF some lady in a store-on the street-says hi to you ? Don't you ever bump in to people you might have know in the past, like a supermarket worker-who might know your first name because of a credit card-checks you write , hair stylist, a old co worker, classmate.
Sure I bump into lots of people--so what? If I bump into my old hairstylist, I introduce her to my wife, "Honey, this is my old hair stylist". How are you expecting me to introduce my old SP to my wife?

If you do give a phony name and IF she does say hi, you are going to have more problems explaining why she called you by a different name than your real name, right ?
Nope, you missed the point. I am going to deny, deny, deny that I even know her. My reaction is going to be, "Do I know you?" and then when I realize she's an SP, "Sorry, I think you have me confused with someone else." Here is the point you missed: I am not very good at lying on the spot. Nobody is. Even people who are good at lying are not good at coming up with a convincing lie in 5 seconds. You aren't going to have the luxury of even 10 seconds to figure out a plausible explanation when this happens.

My claim is straight denial is the only lie I can prepare in advance and pull off plausibly given mere seconds to figure out what to do. By concealing my true identity, using a fake name, I protect myself against the malicious people out there like A/C, and also against the stupid.

Noir I am glad to hear that. I hope, though, that you understand that I can't tell in advance who is going to be as smart as you, and who isn't. I do believe that 99% of SP's are like you and Jazz and would never do that. As I keep saying it is the 1% I have to worry about.

You were duped by A/C just as much as the rest of us so I am sure you have some understanding of how hard it is in advance to tell whether someone is going to screw you over later--either maliciously as with A/C, or by accident or ignorance or stupidity, like saying "Hi" to a former client in public.

I guess my basic position is this: You don't really need to know my name anyway, it's not going to change the relationship I have with you as an SP. You would treat me warmly and kindly even though I don't know your name, and I certainly can return that warmth and kindness without you knowing mine.
