It's gotten worse since a day ago. More in ICU & more on ventilators:

This link provides the daily numbers.

https://covid-19.ontario.ca/

Ontario has approximately two thousand ICU beds. For ICU system to encounter mild stress, need 150 covid patients. Moderate stress at 350. During first wave, Ontario did not reach mild stress threshold.
And this is now!

  • 790

  • 566

"On Saturday, Canada’s Chief Public Health Officer Dr. Theresa Tam warned of a steady increase in COVID-19-related admissions to hospitals and ICUs that continues to impact the country’s health care system, despite the country’s decline in new case counts.

According to Tam, there was a more than 20 per cent increase in hospitalizations and ICU patients over a weekly period. Her numbers, according to a statement Saturday, detailed an average of 4,167 people with COVID-19 being treated in hospital from between April 16 to April 22. During the same period, an average of 1,268 people were also being treated in ICUs.

I took a taxi when I got off the train and the taxi driver told me he was offered to drive 18 patients back to Toronto that were brought to brockville general hospital and he refused because he was afraid of catching covid. The taxi driver said Toronto patients have been brought as far as kingston and brockville and to wherever else they can send them as Toronto hospitals are full. It's so sad.

Here's some good news. Since January, shortly after the vaccine campaign began, daily infections in Israel dropped from a peak of more than 10,000 to just 129 before the weekend. Proving vaccines work!

Yes, it seems so.

Although heavily vaccinated Chile has been seeing a surge in C-19 cases. Though there it's a different vaccine (from China) that is less effective & a different C-19 variant that may be more infectious & deadly. Reportedly Chile has also had people getting lax with mask wearing, etc.

And yet they're flying ICU patients as far as North Bay
And abandoning them
Have a relative flown to some far off ICU
When he dies the government leaves the body sitting there
Up to YOU to retrieve your loved ones if you want a funeral

Its fucking hilarious if not in such poor taste
