is Bowmanville good for housing?
not a bad area but you need a budget of $750k to call it "affordable". Same with Lindsay. I would pretty much consider Trenton, Cobourg and Kingston. I love the east.

If you can work from home Northern Ontario, although I have heard that Timmins is the most boring place on Earth, especially in the winter.

the Niagara region is cheaper than the GTA
Since the 90's I have visited most of the wineries in the Niagara region. There are many. I can think of maybe 2 or 3 attractive women that I have seen working at the wineries there.
In the retail area, in the tour guide position, in the harvesting department etc etc. Makes no sense. Could be that the areas is generally lacking in talent.

How come no one has said Goderich and the Bruce Peninsula?
Lots of land, near to a border town, fresh air, great sunsets and affordable housing.

If I had a work from home job I’d bail out of the GTA for that area, get some land and enjoy the space to think.
