Online MBA's

I have used this board for advice on cars, financial investments, and restaurants. Why not ask about online MBA's. I can't fit the classroom training into my schedule, and was thinking about an online MBA. Are there any good schools out there, or are they diploma mills?

Generally a sound idea is to look at reputable class-room MBA programs and see if any are offered on-line. I know there are at least some.

Online school is as legit as buying a perfume on Amazon by smelling in it online through the screen. (Curiously, according to some reviews LCD screens give better smell resolution and depth than plasma.) Just my opinion, do what you think it's best for you.

That's why I say find a real University that offers some or all of the classes online. I don't know about MBA programs specificaly but there are others in many different disciplines.

There's no such thing as a good online MBA school.

I figure it this way:

If your degree is from a good school and it is the same as the degree you would have got if you physically attended then the institution is standing behind the degree with its full reputation on the line. Probably a good degree. You will miss out on the networking that happens when you physically attend but get a good quality education.

Most online degrees are either from schools no-one has heard of, or from good schools but somehow noted as different (i.e., worse) than the normal degree offered by that school. I would avoid these programs as you can't be sure what you are getting.

There are some "online" degrees which are actually the exact same degree you would get if you physically attended and are issued by good schools. In some cases you can even choose to do all or part of it online, and all or part of it physically there--either way you complete the same requirements and get the same degree.
