This is going from the sublime to the ridiculous. Why should we twist ourselves into a knot for the Americans? They killed Keystone XL. They virtually banned imports of our softwood lumber. So, what is in it for us to piss off China?

We pissed off the Americans when we don't send their (suspected) murderers back because the U.S. has a death penalty. Trudeau the Elder pissed off the Americans when we still did trade with Cuba and China back in the day.

There's lots Canada can do to let China know that their intransigence will not be tolerated. Hit them hard in their pocket book. Canada buys 400 percent more goods from China than they buy from us. That is a lop sided deal.

1. Tariff their goods to the tune of 100 percent. Anything "Made in China" gets nailed.

2. Start really and truly enforcing the rules for travel Visas. That will drive them nuts.

3. No more Chinese students welcomed to out universities. The current crop can be permitted to finish their education, even apply to stay here. But no more new students.

4. Ban Huawei. Thieving fuckers that they are.

5. Crack down on all the money laundering going on by Chinese nationals in the real estate market.

6. Support Hong Kong. Brain drain them.

7. (And they will love this), recognize Taiwan.

8. Work with Nato to keep up the criticism of Chinese human rights abuses.
These are great ideas, but we are talking about a soft, scared, incompetent Liberal government.

We are too dependent on PRC goods to set tariffs, inflation would eat away at our dollar. If you care about Michael's Kovrig and Spavor don't subscribe to Disney+, the entertainment giant is on it's knees before Xi.

The backlash may have started already - but at the wrong target. The film Chaos Walking has dropped of the face of the Earth in it's second week. The film stars two of Disney's biggest superstars: Tom Holland (Spiderman) and Daisy Ridley (Star Wars). The misdirected part is Disney isn't distributing the film, Lionsgate is. Disney has invested $5.5 billion in the PRC.

It was GOP President Nixon who "opened" up China. Trudeau the Elder never closed the door on China and keep trading with China (and Cuba) using CAD's.

Now, Trudeau the Younger will screwed that up? Canada should send Nygard to the U.S. and free Miss Meng. Much more than a fair trade in my mind.

China could really damaged the U.S. without firing a shot by dumping USD's on the market.

Really really really really starting to dislike the Chinese government.

I only just recently added the fourth “really” to my feelings on the matter.
Yes, and I just canceled my membership in the Mickey Mouse Club 🐭 👎...
