I was looking for some posts I read here some years ago, but the search didn;t give any results earlier than spring, 2012. Anybody know why, or is this because of the domain change from 'dot ca' to 'dot cc'?

I don’t think the domain name changed until at least 2014 or later. That was still pre-C36
As for why???? Probably because those posts are almost 10 years old. Doesn’t really matter why when you think about it. If posts are gone there are gone.
I assume that anything that was in the old vbulten software archive, didn’t translate to the new xenforo software that was just upgraded.

Thanks, Jen. Possibly a mod could confirm for sure. If they're gone, they're gone, but if they've just been moved, I'd like to know where. Deleting the past was Winston Smith's job in Nineteen Eighty-four

Just a heads up - looks like the archives left in 2010 based on these threads, so it may not have even been a xenforo software transfer issue.

I vaguely recall during some conversion or migration process years ago, many old threads were lost. It may have been around the timeframe you’re looking at.
No, not my concern but it is curious which is why I asked. Would have maybe helped because I could have maybe found the thread or threads you were looking for through other search measures.
Considering you said you couldn’t find anything past 2012 and I found two threads from 2010.
But keep your secrets guarded closely because heaven forbid someone may use them against you. LOL

There are quite a few specific posts I'm lookng for, mainly so I could reread them, or put a link in a private message window. There's nothing in any of them that would be used against anybody. Thanks for the HaHa, I prefer those to Likes.
Maybe I should have explained this differently. Does that apply when looking for posts made by a specific handle, using their profile page? I Maybe there was something unusual about the handles I was looking at. I know you can't search the posting history of someone who was banned. Thank you for the input.
If you know the poster, you should not have a problem going back through their posting history at all.
When you get to the 13th page, I believe you have to click the “view more” button to get further into past post.
This may be the issue with the search function as well. I found it a little hard to see the button and realize there was an option to view more.

Thanks again, Jen. I already knew and did that, but on the profile pages I was looking at, the option to go further back was only available a few times. If I knew specific and uncommon keywords used in a particular post, the posts for which I'm searching would be easy to find. I'm glad to know that this doesn't seem to be a systems problem. I don't think I can get any more help on this. I'll try using some different parameters, and maybe I'll get lucky.
