Well Omicron is now currently a complete tsunami.
Over a million case worldwide per day. Probably twice are untested. So that is probably more then 3 millions case a day.
In less then 3 weeks it's now 73% of all new cases in the US.
The WHO estimates the severity to be 30 to 80% less then Delta or other variant. Still that still probably too many for our hospital to handle.
Vaccines still works but to a lower %. The only valid number that came out is an efficacy of 85% for the J&J booster (Yes the booster). Other booster our double vax percentage of efficacy is not known yet.
It's probably too late for non vaccinated people you will need to ride the next few weeks omicron storm without it. As you need more then 7 months to get both shot plus the booster. For those who get sick... Tough and prayers!
Quebec will most probably announce a curfew today.
Quebec (and same in the UK) saw much more hospitalization for kids.
Airlines keeps canceling up to 2000 flights per day due to shortage of staff. Hospital can't do that so they will ask asymptomatic to go back to work. A shortage of staff in hospital could lead to more death not even related to covid. It's a good thing in Quebec the government decided not to fire unvacinated healthcare worker. Ontario and BC will face a shit show from the unvax idiots for firing them and now recalling them.
This is all really depressing. But somehow I remain positive that this is the last storm before we are able to live with covid.
But then we will realize that covid has brought us something very very important. We are witnessing a crisis of rationality at the individual level. Some expert like Alex Jones or now Joe Rogan are riding the wave and make a living out of it.
Realizing that some people prefer swallowing horse dewormer then trusting the medical and science community is scarier then covid.
