Will we see a big drop at the pumps tomorrow?

Or does the price go up instantly and down slowly?
Deregulation allows this to happen!
It is how the so called Free Market works 'saving us money'....

And the pumps get stalled, so it might only go down by a few points. Got to love golobal economy.

I wonder if this is a leading indicator of a coming recession? Has the huge spike in oil prices already killed off the recovery causing it to fall?

Hmmm....

Time shall tell, it always does...

speaking of gas prices...I was in Peterborough today and the price was 10 cents per litre cheaper there. I would have thought they would have been more expensive up there.

hmmmm.

The oil companies are like the big rock star in the band whose head gets inflated when everyone tells him that he's the star of the band and should go solo.

Big oil is convinced or was convinced by all the talking heads out there that $5.00 a gallon US makes sense and is perfectly acheivable.

But the reality is that your originary working stiff just can't afford $4.00 a gallon, let alone $5.00 a gallon. It's all about finding that "sweet spot" on the curve and the oil speculators may have pushed it a little too far. (China or no China.)

when oil was 100$ a barrel and gas was .80 a liter companies were making record profits. now oil is gonna be 100$ a barrel and they are gonna keep charging 1.00-1.10 a liter. we are gonna take it and do nothing.

Not familiar with Peterborough, but I've known for years that Cobourg is consistently 10-15 cents cheaper than Toronto.. I don't understand why..

Unfortunately Dan McTeague was one of the Liberals who didn't get elected. His insight into gas pricing were very helpful.

Dan McTeague was in parliament forever and didn't do one thing to lower gas prices. Now he can watch prices at home with a gold plated pension

it is no place special, but it is an hour or so north east of the GTA. I would have thought that the prices would be higher once you get out of the GTA (trucking costs, volume)...but they are consistently lower by 10 cents per litre.

several years ago it was the opposite, gas was always cheaper in the 'big city'. I can't help but think this supports the view that the local market is set based on what people will pay.
