Another reason not to bring an outcall to your home.

Btw. The story says his wife, upon finding the door bolted from the inside "assumed nobody was home". Wtf?? I think she knew exactly what was going on and locked the poor bugger in there to contemplate his own fate!

Nice of him to leave his wallet at the crime scene to make it easy for the police. Sad.

Such articles always leave questions unanswered, such as: from whence did the wife produce the padlock, and why didn't the husband have a key to said padlock. Further what sort of crazy appartment has an arrangement such that the door can be padlocked from the outside!

It's a fucking fire hazard too. Only in Mumbai. I feel sorry for Julie.

In India, most houses, apts, flats, (unless built recently), every room in the house has a sliding deadbolt padlock to lock the room when you're not at home. A lot of houses are open or at least easy to get into, particularly in the summer, because of the heat.

Many places in Cuba have padlocks on the main door to the building, doors to the secondary apartments, and sometimes to individual rooms too. With rampant poverty, anything is liable to be stolen. Many places do not even have toilet paper as this would be stolen too.
