Embrass?

Assuming you mean "embrace", since when is that a hallmark of being a Canadian? We're hardly known for being the vanguards of the zeitgeist.

but I have broaden my horizons to even include American music,
Whoa! Even American music? You are soooooo cutting-edge! Worldly even!

JJicq,

You've got to start staying in a better class of hotel. I have digital cable which allows me to not only see tons of sports at anytime of day, but also time shift so I can watch Maritimes, East, Central, Mountain and Western stations. Plus a shitload of specialty channels.

Don't know where you live, but life is good in TO.

Not to get into US bashing (I went to highschool in Arlington, VA) but I could spend several more paragraphs talking about how things are better in Canada on a daily basis.

For example, in the US you have President Bush who went to war and spent billions of dollars, and is literally flushing your economy down the toilet, here in Canada we have Alfonso Gagliano and and the former PM who have spent millions of dollars enriching their political friends.

But one example is our banking system, where you can bank with one bank anywhere in the country and use your debit card anywhere in the country. Another is the fact that we can get cell phone service from a provider that is good throughout the country, no roaming charges. In both cases in the US, you've got more service providers (cell) and banks than you can shake a stick at.

I feel fortunate to come to Canada, Toronto is my favorite large North American City, people are great, safe, lots to see and do. All I wanted to know about is Curling!!!

How many people living in Canada are actually born in your great Country? 20% - 30%???, immigration rules in your Country while having benefits I recognize, how much is too much?

Now, please share the essence of this wonderful game you all call Curling!!!

Then why are you talking like a Yankee hood? Dave, been watching too much BET 'cause I know you didn't pick that slang up growing up in your home or your neighborhood. Where do you think a lot of the people who come to Caribana are from? Get a clue!

Toronto is about 50%. Toronto has the most foreign born residents out of anywhere in Canada by a longshot.

Once again you show your ignorance. Curling was invented in Scotland. Canadians just perfected it!!

One thing I like about TERB is all the new things I learn here. I never new that Scotland had their own NWT before or that they had igloos. I really should have made more of an attempt to learn about the place when I visited!

Just kidding.

Curling was a plot hatched by women so they could yell at their husbands "If you can sweep on the ice, you can damn well do it at home too!!"

Seriously, having been a curler, I can tell you that the "essence" of this wonderful game is that after the game, the winning team has to buy the loosing team a beer. Of course since we are civilized, the loosing team recipricates and buys the winning team a beer. Of course the winning team wants to prove their just as civilized so they buy another round for the loosing team, and so on, and so on till everyone gets pissed and the fights break out! :)

Realy serious now. It's kinda like King of the Hill. The object is to get your stone closer to the centre of the target then the other team. At the end of the 'end', the team with a stone closest to the center counts 1 point for each rock that's closer then any of the other teams.

There are four people to a team. Each member thows two rocks in turn. When each team has thrown their eight rocks, the 'end' is complete and the score for that end is counted. A normal game is 8 or 10 ends. The 'Hammer' is the last rock in the end - it's the last chance to 'nail down' the score for your team.

The ice is pebbled. The spin on the rock helps the rock to turn or 'curl' (hence the name). The sweeping melts a little of the top of the ice, adjusting the rate of the curl and the speed of the rock.

Perhaps I should inquire about service at hotels, good suggestion, Hilton is an Internationally respected organization.

WHAT?

I would respect your opinion but, it would be just that and from your point of view...so what

Banking example you have outlined, perhaps you have been North of the Boarder for too long, American banks invesnted the use of Debit Cards and they can be used not only in the US but Internationally regardless of what Bank you choose. Do not follow you there at all.

Again, you are not informed very well regarding cell phone coverage..way off base here too, nice try.
