Does Canada have any of there own Television stations to that show more than freaking CURLING? WHAT A HOOT...

No ESPN, NO NCAA Hoops Tourney or maybe I need to complain to the Hilton family, becasue I stay in theHotels allot when in GTA and feel neglected by not having managable TV options for Sports.

OH but, please thank you Canada for the ever exciting CURLING CHAMPIONSHIPS!!!!!!!!

I would like to understand the game but have not been able to pick it up. There are elements of Shuffle Board, Hockey, Baseball, Darts, Ice Skating and House Cleaning kinda all wrapped into one! DAMN you sure gotta be talented to plat that game!!!

Curling is not an action game, never was and never pretended to be. It's more a game of strategy. Something that's perhaps lost on millisecond attention span Americans.

Yes, because we Canadians are sooooooo much more sophisticated than our American neighbours. Of course, we also criticize them for not being able to keep up with the quick pace of Hockey, so I'm not sure how we can have it both ways.

For the record, curling is one of the fastest growing sports in the United States, and the 2004 US Championships received higher TV ratings down there than any NHL hockey game has this season.

Tongue in cheek or not; for those Americans who laud the "nuance and strategy" of baseball, they should appreciate curling even more. In addition to strategy, curling also invloves accuracy and execution finesse.

For as long as I live I will never forget the laugh, "ROARING LAUGH" from Nicola the other night.

We were relaxing near the end of our time together and I flipped on the TV and low and behold the BRIER (spelling help please)CUP - Curling Championship was on - She threw her hands in the AIR and looked at me and said in Russian - WTF?

I politely turned my head slightly to the right, with hands to either side, shrugged, laughed and said I LOVE CANADA!! and the game is CURLING!! Again, another ROARING LAUGH from Nicola!!!

Nicola was stopped dead in her tracks by the sight of grown men barking at one another "HARRRDD", while doing Ballet moves that would make Yuri Grigorovich the great Russian ballet choreographer cry with joy if could only have been witness of the fine Curling team members.

If that is not enough you have finely poilished (STONES) with beautifully crafted handles and Red and Yellow spray paint on top so as not to mix stones together!

Then there are men - grown men sweeping the ICE vigoursly, Mr Clean would be happy with their ELBOW grease.

Lastly, all of this occurs while skating, sliding and gracefully negotiating a sheet of ice about 1.5 to 2 Meters in width.

Again, I plead for help, is this Shuffle Board, Baseball, Bowling, Darts with Rocks, Slide the Stone in the Red Circle, Checkers?
The folks making this game up had to be DRUNK OFF THEIR ASS inside there IGLOO in the NW Territories and down to the last piece of SEAL Meat for the Village, so they created Curling as a means to measure who is most worhty of the MEAT! I adore the Natives and admire all their capabilities to survive and prosper in that environment and no disrespect is implied or intended in my comments.

Really, come on the Blue Hairs on the Carnival Cruise Lines and those who live at the Saint Pizadore Golden Buckeye Retirement Community in Pisgee, Arizona could take any of the these Canadian Champion Curling squads and spank them at their own game. Hell, the Blue Hairs play it everyday!!! Just wait till you have false teeth and are fighting for the last tube of Denture Cream, you will curl your ass off to get that TUBE!

Really! Put on some NCAA Basketball, plug into ESPN Classic, the NHL, rerun CFL games but, please in PRIME TIME do not show Curling. If you do, and you want to attract new people to the Sport. Ask the announcers to mix in some details of the basics of Curling so we who are not as CULTURED can at least attempt to understand a little better this UNIQUE activity!
