Back in the 60's I lived in the UK. Going to the ocean was exciting. Loved the smell of the salt sea air. Down in Penzance for instance you could smell the brine and the smell of fresh fish on the quay side. Crashing waves and all. Watched a documentary recently about that area. Seems to have been gentrified. Even the sea looked calm. Gone are the rough wooden piers and the fresh fish vendors. That rough bracing sea energy was just a passive calmed down puddle. Don't know how they managed that.
