Recently on the news, this man was busted for not paying sex workers after sex.
"A Toronto area man has been charged after he allegedly refused to pay for services from a sex professional, police said.
A news release issued by Durham police Tuesday said 32-year-old Janarthanan Sathianthan has been charged with three counts of theft under $5,000 and three counts of obtaining sexual services for consideration."

I understand the "theft under $5000" part, then I looked up "obtaining sexual services for consideration", which is the legal term for soliciting a prostitute, and found out that the penalty is actually quite heavy:
"The charge of obtaining sexual services for consideration is always an indictable offence with a maximum penalty of five years in prison. If the charge is treated as a summary conviction, the maximum penalty is a fine of $5,000, a jail term or two years less a day or both.
If the offence was committed in a public place, or next to a park, the grounds of a school or religious institution or any other place where people under 18 can reasonably be expected to be present, the maximum penalty remains the same but there is a minimum penalty of $2,000 if the charge is treated as an indictable offence. There is a maximum fine of $1,000 if the charge is prosecuted as a summary conviction.
The charge of obtaining sexual services from those under 18 is always an indictable offence with a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison."
Now that I think about it, if I walked into a police sting on Leolist or got caught with my pants down in a spa, I might have to pay a hefty fine or even go to jail even on summary conviction, and end up with a bullshit criminal record...I just wonder if anyone got charged for this thing, and what did you do after?
Also, does Ontario really enforce these laws?
