WTF? Couldn't you just drink multiples of the maximum size? Ever heard of refills?!

I'm beginning to hate the gooberment more and more. Let people make their own choices and let them deal with the consequences. The only reason gooberment feels it should get involved is because the got involved in paying for health care. If the cost of the healthcare fell solely on the people who make the "poor" choices we'd probably have less of an obesity problem. That also goes for just about anything else the gooberment gets involved in.

and if obese people were left to die at the road sides you would be the first who screamed that the government is cruel and heartless

Good.

Nobody needs an extra large pop with all those calories.

Same goes with Tim's. Those new extra large cups are insane.

these knee-jerk politicians need to figure out what is important and what is not. they have decided that too much sugar is THE problem. there are lots of fake doctors/pop speakers making the rounds right now. calling it TOXIC! calling it an ADDICTION! and politicians like to be seen to be doing something. even if it's dumb.

This is fucking bullshit. I love sugary beverages, also diet sodas, and I'm not fat or whatever. I just don't like hot beverages like coffee so I prefer iced coffee or colas. But fuck any government bureaucrats (even Michael Bloomberg, self-made billionaire though he may be) who try to mess with people's personal freedom.
Do we live in Nazi Germany or china? No. Americans (and Canadians) should make up their own minds about what to eat or drink.

16 oz is about 200 calories and 2 full cups of fluid. That is plenty of liquid sugar and if you need more fluid to handle your thirst, maybe you should be laying off the coke before you lose a foot.

I am a big fat guy and a small is enough for me. Hell I wish they sold those mini 8 oz cans in corner stores as 12 is usually overkill.

I agree, those large drinks are ridiculous. I don't think many people should be angered by this, Maybe it can help solve America's obesity problem

How many of those who are opposed to this latest ban stood up in opposition to the smoking bans put in place a few years ago?

Were you really so stupid to think a government which would ban smoking wouldn't ban other things?

When was the last time you got sick from second-hand sugar? And they haven't banned smoking, just restricted where it can be done.

i smoke and i didn't oppose the smoking bans, i thought they would hurt bars and pubs and it did a little. i worked for molson and it hurt them as i am sure it hurt the other breweries. i say that cuz i talked to the guys in the keg dept and they said before the smoking ban they would hardly be able to keep up and it was about 20-25 sometimes 30 loads of kegs going out a day, after the ban 5-10 at most.

anyway i was cool with the smoking ban, no one else needs my bad habit. this ban however is stupid. most restaurants don't offer a bigger than 16oz cup and give you free refills so it doesn't matter and corner stores will save money on buying larger cups that don't sell as much. for us up here i don't think it is an issue but the 'mericans love the soda.

I would post a pic of some 400 pound chick but meh... effort.

I know one person who is pissed at the large soft drink ban

Poor Edgar, hommie does love his sugar.

Myself, I always go for a small. If you need more fluid for your thirst, you should cut back on the coke before you lose a foot.

Ha, I've changed my mind. Sugar needs to be outright banned before the bugs arrive en masse!

How about mandating that all beverages must be sweetened with non caloric additives?

how about mandating less and teaching more? there's nothing wrong with most things. the issues are quantity related. sometimes i need the extra calories. sometimes i don't want them. everybody can make the same choices. really tho, i wonder what bloomberg was trying to distract public attention away from. that seems more likely the reason for these loony-toon bylaws.
