It already exists as United States Cyber Command within the Department of Defense and is headed by the Director of the NSA. It's mandate is to protect DoD networks and to perform cyber warfare. USCYBERCOM is composed of units from the Navy, Army, Airforce and Marines as well as support from the NSA.I would think Cyber would be next
lol, I realize your jab at the Yanks. Technically USCYBERCOM has a carefully defined operations scope. Not currently their job to have protected Hillary's (illegal) server or the election systems. Had Hillary been using the gov't servers, she would have been protected. That barn door has was lost some time ago.
This thread is about the illegal militarization of space. Everyone on the planet has a right to an opinion. Why do a bunch of canucks care how the US organizes its military - rampant TDS.
So where does that come from? I don't recall the outraged threads about the Russian Spaces Forces or the PRC.This thread is about the illegal militarization of space.
In these days, all business, organizations and even the military are focused on not wasting money. Why create a totally separate branch of the military with it's own buildings, command staff, support infrastructure, uniforms, etc. etc when it doesn't actually result in a better "fighting" branch? Save 30% on the overhead and hire more soldiers, better train them and put more bombs in orbit. AGAIN the JCS opposed this change last year, although Trumps know more than all the Generals, isn;t this their decision to make? While personally I believe it is best left in the hands of the U.S. Air Force, you don't realize that not only have other major powers already created "space forces" but further this has been discussed under previous Democrat Administrations?
Ardy, I didn't think you would see it any other way! Trump proposes the illegal militarization of space breaking yet another treaty and you cheer away. This seems far more "dump on Trump," than it does thoughtful military analysis.
How on earth is this illegal? What treaty does it violate?Ardy, I didn't think you would see it any other way! Trump proposes the illegal militarization of space breaking yet another treaty and you cheer away.
<rolleyes> Are you suggesting the Russians or Chinese have permanently stationed weapons of mass destruction, weapon systems or military personal (not part of civilian endeavors) in space. Surveillance systems are allowed. So where does that come from? I don't recall the outraged threads about the Russian Spaces Forces or the PRC.
That would be about nuclear weapons in space and the like. The President's proposal although not something I agree with is not that. This thread is about the illegal militarization of space.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Outer_Space_TreatyHow on earth is this illegal? What treaty does it violate?
Already posted that I believe that the U.S. Air Force is completely competent to handle this.
You are saying that this is the same as putting nuclear weapons in space?Initially the Space Force will monitor satellite and spacecraft traffic and space junk, but Trump is proposing the agency also evaluate the practically and benefits of putting weapons and personal into space.
Do a little more research. That would be about nuclear weapons in space and the like. The President's proposal although not something I agree with is not that.
Did you read anything I wrote or the info in the link I provided to you? I never said Trump proposed to put nuclear weapons in space .... just "(defensive) weapons and personal".You are saying that this is the same as putting nuclear weapons in space?
Entirely typical instead of looking for the common ground, it instead is "my way or the highway."
You’re obcessing about an internal reorg in another country. I realize politics in Canada are boring but damn.....Did you read anything I wrote or the info in the link I provided to you? I never said Trump proposed to put nuclear weapons in space .... just "(defensive) weapons and personal".
This is one of the reasons Reagan's Star Wars was never implemented, it would have been illegal and back then the US still had (some) honour. I have no problems in developing technologies, evaluating feasibilities and logistics. But the minute you start talking actual weapons or deployment you are risking another weapons race. This may simply encourage the Russians and Chinese to set-up their cyber warfare capabilities immediately.
Not sure Canada is where you go for engineersThis thread is about the illegal militarization of space. Everyone on the planet has a right to an opinion.
Why do Americans have no idea how their military is organized? I guess Canadians simply know more than their American brethren. Not surprising considering the sorry state of your education system.
We care because the US will need competent engineers to set it all up and train your soldiers. I stand ready to fill that high paying job!
First it was constant lefty .... lefty ..... lefty. Now TDS .... TDS .... TDS. So funny.
Why?No. We understand perfectly, Boober. We just think it's stupid.
It should stay part of the USAF.
And you spend your entire waking day trolling people on a Canadian Pooner BB. I realize your life must be boring, but damn.....You’re obcessing about an internal reorg in another country. I realize politics in Canada are boring but damn.....
Ahh, you confuse quantity for quality. Typical layman mistake. Not sure Canada is where you go for engineers

It's already been explained several time in this thread. You are a typical lefty, always needing things explained to you and always asking for things to be handed to you on a silver tray. Why?
