Just about 2 miles past appropriate
I am actually surprise to hear about both the Lord Elgin (thought I have heard that past 9-10pm they may be more vigilant). I never have had a problems entertaining there during the day.

Same with Albert at Bay.it's always been really great for me there..thought I am from out of town and don't pay cash.
They do however have a card key access front door past 10pm
It was 3:50 PM on Sunday when they knocked. I walked out the front door in broad daylight. Surreal. Thankfully the lobby and bar area were deserted.

Thanks Eddie for letting us know it was Lord Elgin. I am surprised as well since I had used it once or twice and had encountered no problem whatsoever. The same could be said of Minto and Albert at Bay which I had used 4-5 times in total just the last two-three months. I must add that the time I visited were all during the day. Now I will be a bit more hesitant to visit them.

Interesting in deed, been to the Lord Elgin during the day many times with no issue, as recently as last week. True after 9 and even later non registered guests are subject to more scrutiny but daytime that's just nuts. I do know that recently one of the lesser "established agencies" had been operating out of there in recent weeks. Perhaps their lack of discretion raised the attention of hotel staff to be more diligent and aware ? Calling the cops in though was way over the top. Sorry to hear your SP got raked over the coals for something that was not against the law, that's just fncked!

Hanging out on this site I forget that there are actually people out there who are still uptight about prostitution. I guess that's a good and bad thing. Sigh.

Met one very sweet woman there during a daytime visit without issue, but must say the place is showing its age.
Dark and nasty bathrooms - least the one I was visiting....

Question - have the cops been asked to crack down more just to flex their muscles with regards to this legal announcement?

I was staying there during my tour and as long as girls are very discreet about things, I doubt theyd have an issue. However, they mentioned to a girl that got kicked out that they monitor good looking single girls who check in there. Safe to say the hotel is an older one and is less busy so they would like to maintain a certain image, apparently one that is not friendly to SPs.

I would just try my luck at another hotel, but again, discretion is important :)
That's the thing, hotel staff aren't clueless and they're most likely trained to make these snap judgments at the more upscale establishments. Know your customer. They see an attractive single girl, 18-25ish, obviously from out-of-town with 2-3 suitcases and a decent stack of cash to pay...

I'm well aware of the laws, but what can we do?

The Southway Inn has had a reputation for being not being SP friendly. I seem to remember Carrie wrote in an earlier post that the Escort section of the Yellow Pages was ripped out of the phone books.
Lord Elgin, only been there twice. No issues, but it has been some time. For discussion, and I'm not trying to start a debate, but where do participants of the PRIDE parade stay during their event ?
The Monteray Inn ? That's a surprise to me. Addiction would be there frequently along with PK in the early days. I rather suspected the front desk clerk was friendly toward these agencies (in the beginning at least). Incidentally I saw Leanne there once.
Les Suites seemed to be popular for a while.
Lily Love (and Gisele) were at Holiday Inn every week a couple/few of years ago. Sadly, she must have retired and without any fanfare ! I hope she is well. The front desk clerks must have known. Lily seemed to always get rooms that were situated behind the elevator.
The Novotel is not SP friendly either, key cards.
Holiday Inn Chaudière, key cards.
I like the lay-out of the old Crown Plaza; enter at street level and take elevator straight up and never pass the front desk.
I stay away from motels east of Bank Street.
Just my experiences with hotels, for what it's worth.

I feel so terrible for the poor girl as well, been humiliated like that in the presence of her client. I wish her all the best and that she'd recover fully from this unfortunate ordeal.
