Norton Anti Virus

Hey Terbites,

I'm gonna throw this one out and hopefuly see if anyone can help me...

I have Norton Anti Virus.
A little while back I found that I wasn't able to login to Hotmail, Facebook without having to goto my Norton, disable it for a few seconds, go back and then be able to login into Hotmail or Facebook.

I'm pretty sure it has to do with the setting on Norton, but not sure where to go/what to do to change the settings without affecting anything else.

Help?

Muchly appreciated.

I have Norton on one of the systems at home and have no problem with either Hotmail or Facebook.

Of course I also have no clue about what could be causing your problem. I'm assuming you have the anti-virus pattern files updated and are using a recent release. I'm also assuming you do a regular virus scan and routinely clean the Temporary Internet Files and empty the temp folder (and there can be several of those).

When you say you're not able to logon, can you load the page or is it blocked as well?

What exactly happens when you try to login?

BTW: norton sucks totally. It is a system resources hog and it's antispam filters don't work very well......

I can load the home page no probs....

its just right after I type in my login and password, and hit enter, it says The Requested page is Unavailable.

I then have to resort to turning of Norton...then going back to Hotmail, login Id and password, hit enter and then no prob.

but during the short time I'm doing that, I am exposing myself cos I have Norton off.

ok, this might fix it:

Click on the norton icon in the tool bar at the bottom of your screen.
Click on the "home" button.
Click on web browsing under the "your online activities header" on the right side of the screen.
Click on ad blocking and when the little sub window opens, click on "configure ad blocking"
Click on the "advanced" button
You should see a window with 2 parts, websites on one side and ad blocking on the other.
You can add the hotmail web page to the list on the left. It might be blocking you from viewing the page due to ads being present.

or get an older version of Norton.
I used Norton 2002 till 2006 with no problems, I would completely remove and reinstall it.
Then in 2006 I switched to Avast which I now like better than bloated Norton .....and Avast is free.
