He had cancer for 10 years. Kept is secret from friends and family.
The first time I ever watched Norm was in the movie Billy Madison, been a fan ever since.

There was something about him.

Not funny haha like a Woody Allen movie... Funny strange, like a Woody Allen marriage"

Dirty Work: written by Norm McDonald, directed by Bob Saget remains an under appreciated classic. It gets funnier with repeat viewing...I nearly popped a hernia on the third viewing.
Thanks, I'll have to watch that.

Watch this interview, he was just such a natural and had such an amazingly quick wit. :ROFLMAO:

A meeting of Comic Gods.

Don't be sipping a cool refreshing beverage while watching this.

Courtney Thorne-Smith and Norm Macdonald on Conan in 1997

If you haven't seen it - follow the link. The speed that the final line was delivered was amazing.
Conan's reaction at the end tells it all.........He has an appreciation for comedic genius.

I have to say I'm surprised by the response(outside of TERB). I didn't realize he was so popular.

While not a great joke in itself, the infamous Russian Moth joke shows Norm MacDonald's mastery of telling a joke. Reminds me of the old comics like Buddy Hackett who would go on Carson and tell funny stories with a simple punch line at the end. Actually, Conan's reactions and interjections help this joke along.

Conan(and especially Leno) never just settled for the studio gig once they got it. Both continued to work very, very hard at their craft and it showed. They were very sharp, as comedians, and with impeccable timing. Leno worked comedy clubs even at the peak of his popularity...and still does. They're consummate professionals.

Norm was a master of disaster, he always tested how far he could take a gag. Bob Einstein clued in for a hilarious disaster. The Bob Saget Roast tops them all, Norm told the most maudlin jokes and got away with it.
