NHL not allowing Gretzky to be part of Team Canada

Im just curious what u guys think about the NHL and my buddy Gary not letting Wayne and Pat Quinn and the rest of the gang to be a part of the world championships in April, because of the lockout.

It seems as if the NHL is deliberately trying its damndest to alienate every hockey fan in Canada for good.

A part of me can understand why they've made this decision - imagine if some of the negotiation bitterness spilled over onto the ice. Hockey Canada has also hired a full time coach for the national team at the worlds (who I believe is Marc Habscheid) and Gretzky and Lowe laid the foundations for who the best Canadians in the world from the team that won the World Cup last September. So, do we even need a Gretzky or a Quinn?

On the other hand, it seems petty to me. But then again, not a whole lot about this lockout looks anything but petty these days.

If the NHL actually cared about the Canadian hockey fan, Winnipeg and Quebec would still be around.

There will be a day when only Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, and 1 Alberta team (half games in Edmonton, half games in Calgary) will be left.

Wrong. The Flames would never play more than an exhibition game in Edmonton once the Oilers die.

If the NHL gets the cost certainty, linkage, cap and whatever else they feel they need to survive, perhaps a return to Winnipeg, Quebec City and dare I say Hamilton become a possibility....

Yeah i also heard on TSN that The great one will be getting the crack team of coaches togeather to win the World Tourny. Plus the Coach that Hockey Canada Hired said he would step aside for them.
