NFL Hall Of Fame 2011: Marshall Faulk, Deion Sanders, Shannon Sharpe, Chris Hamburger, Les Richter, Richard Dent and Ed Sabol (NFL Films)
He's first ballot. I think he was a crappy or resistant tackler and a showboat but he was one of the best if not the best cover corner of all time. On the NFL Network's greatest 100 players he was ranked 34. That's going to get you in the HOFI didn't think that Deion Sanders was HOF material.
Maybe the showboating and "neon" issues distracted attention from his real football skills. Just like Troy Palamau(sp)'s hair distracts attention from his true football ability.I think he was a crappy or resistant tackler and a showboat but he was one of the best if not the best cover corner of all time. His style overshadowed substance for Deion at times but he probably is the best athlete to come into the league in the last 30 years. Maybe Randy Moss is athletic as Deion or for my money Charles Woodson is near Deion on the athletic scale. Deion's speed is so good that it was often thought that he let receivers "look" open deep just so he would catch up to the receiver and the ball and intercept the pass. When you have that kind of confidence in yourself you know you have some extraordinary skillsMaybe the showboating and "neon" issues distracted attention from his real football skills. My vote goes to Michael Vick. That guy is amazing. He can do it all. Run, throw and kick (ok, maybe not kick). His style overshadowed substance for Deion at times but he probably is the best athlete to come into the league in the last 30 years.
Chris Hanburger?.....Chuck Howley is far more deserving.NFL Hall Of Fame 2011: Marshall Faulk, Deion Sanders, Shannon Sharpe, Chris Hamburger, Les Richter, Richard Dent and Ed Sabol (NFL Films)
Cornerback is also a hard position too in my opinion. How do you keep stats on CB's? Intercepts? Tackles?I'll tell you wide receiver is a hard position for fans to determine whether they are hall of famers.
He may have been the best self-promoter of the last 30 years. His style overshadowed substance for Deion at times but he probably is the best athlete to come into the league in the last 30 years.
Hey Rock try to stay on topic. This is about who was just named to the HOF. Michael Vick is a far cry away from there. My vote goes to Michael Vick. That guy is amazing. He can do it all. Run, throw and kick (ok, maybe not kick).
BTW: I am talking about Vick the football player and not the human being.
Somebody mentioned that HOF Deion "Neon" Sanders was the best athlete to play in the NFL in the past 30 years. I disagree. This is about who was just named to the HOF. Michael Vick is a far cry away from there.
