Thought this would be a fresh new start for me, but I guess my luck hasn't changed.

New Year's arrives, and not a SINGLE one of my friends or even family members sends me a new year's wish. To do something "fun", I go to the casino by myself and lose several thousand. To make it worse, I couldn't remember where I parked and spent half an hour walking around in the freezing cold looking for my car. While I was walking, I wolfed down a very hot pepperoni stick. Big mistake. I had severe diarrhea and stomach pain the whole night, and had to wake up several times to go to the bathroom.

Trying to turn things around, today I went to see an sp and had a pretty sad experience (I won't go into details). On my way home, I got pulled over for turning right on a red light (Bay/Bloor). Since I remembered reading that you should never bring your wallet at an incall, I had left my wallet at home, which had my driver's license and vehicle permit. I got two $110 fines for that too.

Please dont' tell me that the rest of my year is going to be like this. :(

I can't believe you fell for the Bay/Bloor trap by the Manulife. There is always a cop there a few days a month on a regular basis during mid day and rush hour. It's a cash cow for the cops. I think I once witnessed 4 cars getting pulled over while waiting for the Ped. light to turn green!

BTW, it has NOTHING to do with luck. You need to get a grip on your life and stop being so depressed and act like a total loser. To be honest try to avoid the internet for a whole week. It will give you will power and freedom and time to spend and focus on other things.

That is pretty bad... but you could have been drunk as well.

Didn't you hear of a glove box, its where I keep my wallet when I am not carrying it.

Never heard of it before. Makes me mad just thinking about it. The sign is so small, and it was dark and snowy. Didn't see it at all.

They should hang no turn on red signs up right by the traffic light...a few places do but very few. I have miss a no turn on red before...went back and look, dumb sign was on a telephone pole, a good ways back before the light, went to court and bitched, did no good...looking back it was in a BS town, glad I don't live there anymore.

Well my night wasn't that bad but I had issues too.

In between calls, my car battery dies. Great. My CAA membership just expired so I tried hailing several cabs (none had booster cables) and even a cop (who just waved at me and carried on his way).

Finally, I found a cabbie to help me and I gave him $20 for a boost (better than $50 to call a tow truck for a boost). I was able to get home but my night driving was done.

Charged up my booster pack but it didn't help. Finally got another boost from a neighbour and got to my mechanic who luckily had another battery. $200 later I'm ready to drive again tonight.

Dude...just chillax. Life is what you make of it. All these shitty events just happened to occur at the same time...just some crazy luck!

I'm sure you'll be fine...just have a positive outlook for the rest of the year even if bad shit happens to you!

stinkynuts, relationships take work, even among family. I don't know your relationships with your family and friends so it is difficult to speculate about it. But, did you send any of them Happy New Year greetings? Did they reply? Often it pays to be the first one to open up, rather than just wait for good things to happen. And, during the rest of the year, it pays to keep in touch. Do you send them birthday greetings? Do you see them for dinners or whatever through the year? I am not trying to beat you up, please don't take it like that, but not knowing your situation its hard to help, and that's all I'm trying to do. Often, single guys get left out of stuff, because its typically the woman in a relationship who remembers all those little things (typically, not always) so with no SO, single guys can be left out of that whole loop of wives talking to sisters talking to mothers etc. There are very very very few of my close guy friends with whom I swap holiday greetings. In fact, among my closest 5, none of us are into that. Doesn't mean we aren't still buds. With family, I tend to send notes and greetings to the women; my brother, as much as he might love me, could not care less about wishing me a Happy New Year, and I don't care that he doesn't care! We're still buds. Anyhow, the point of all that is that you often have to be the initiator in order to stay in the loop.

And just because they didn't send you a text or an email on a particular day doesn't mean they don't love you.
