None other than the Toronto native Edge.

Not sure how long his reign will last, he might end up losing it tonight on Raw, but anybody is an improvement over Cena. Look for HHH to weasel his way into the title picture in time for Wrestlemania.

I`m also not sure how long this thread will last before somebody makes the obligatory derisive comment that seems to pop up in every pro wrestling thread.

I have never been an Adam Copeland-Edge fan but he definitely gained a few points with me tonight. He will be known forever as the man who ended the worst title reign in WWE history. It was about time for WWE to be unpredictable. Now we can finally see the original belt back instead of that disgraceful spinning belt.

agreed Cena sucked as champion, but come on, do you believe he was worse than Disel as champion that guy was bad, or The Ultimate Warrior who had two moves all together. Cena will go down as a bad champion and Edge will hold the title for like 2 weeks

I think it will go longer than the 2 weeks. Why do you think Trish Stratus started in on Lita after winning her match? I see a title reign for Lita very soon (perhaps beginning tonight). Don't be surprised if it happens sooner than later ! ;)

Btw, if it happens, remember who called it first!

Edge might hold on to the title until Wrestlemania and face Cena, after he wins the Royal Rumble, for the title. I was hoping for Cena vs Batista for Wrestlemania...

Edge is an awful choice as champ. WWE really blew this one, hopefully he'll lose it fast.
Seriously.

I would have figured they keep John Cena as the champ for quite a while. He's probably their most complete character right now. Edge is good as a mid level guy, but not as the champ.

Hopefully they come to their senses and take the belt off of him tonight.

HHH vs Batista for Wrestlemania that's a lock.

Again? That was last year. And they went at it a few more times after that. They really need to come up with something different to even make a decent Wreslemania.

Anyway, looks like Edge will be facing Cena at the Royal Rumble. Maybe Cena will lose(with some interference) and then eventually win the Rumble.

You can probably unlock that lock now...

Add this to his already torn lat. He's done for about 6 months. They need to ship some guys to SmackDown! somehow. Maybe throw a twist into the Rumble like they did with Beniot a couple years ago.

I'm having a hard time thinking about who Batista is going to drop the title to on Smackdown...Benoit is currently involved with the US Title Story line...and no one else is close to being a champ with the exception of the Undertaker of course...don't know who that's gonna pan out...

Cena vs. Edge @ the Royal Rumble...and it looks like they're still keeping Flair involved with the Edge Story line so don't be surprised if he's still in the mix somewhere (sad really).

If I remembered correctly, during WWE Homecoming, Hogan was there mentioning something able him vs. Stone Cold. Don't know if that's gonna materialize...

Whatever happened to Austin anyways? He had to bail out on a PPV where he was suppose to face the Coach...

The Boogeyman!

Just kidding....

If Road Warrior Animal was 15 years younger, he'll be a good choice but he's past his prime now. Undertaker does not make enough appearence to be champion. Randy Orton was a bust as champion and right now is not the moment. PLEASE TELL ME THAT THEY ARE NOT GOING TO GIVE THE TITLE BACK TO JBL!!!!!

Geez WWE is going to miss Eddy Guerrero even more now.

Well looks like Kurt Angle is the New Smackdown Champ.
Yes, Kurt Angle won the World Heavyweight Championship Tuesday night at the SmackDown television taping in Philadelphia.

while Angle is a great choice for champ, it'll be interesting to see how they justify him moving back to Smackdown. They still need to bring a few people over for Angle to work with. He had a story going with HBK, and they were greeat at the last wrestlemania. Would history repeat itself with this whole McMahon screwing HBK thing where he makes Michaels enter the Roayl Rumble @ #1, and HBK winning it all again and go on to face Angle?

Maybe a trade off between Angle and Edge? Angle takes the World title back to Raw, clearly where it belongs and the WWE belt goes back to Smackdown, where it belongs. This would also set up the possibility of HHH getting the World belt back.
Just a thought?

as long as they keep the belt out of HHH hands then things should be interesting for a while. You can only go to the well so many times, maybe they should bring back the Rock for wrestlemania.
