Correct!Charlie Hough - hit his stride with Texas later in his career and lasted forever with the knuckler.
Did he always have a knuckleball, or was it just developed later in his carrer.
Correct!Cesar Cedeno - would remember looking at my baseball cards 83-84 ish when I was young and being amazed how good he once was (before my time) - he became pretty average by the 80's.
Looking at what he had accomplished by the age of 23, he looked like a really good chance to be a Hall of Famer that sort of fizzled. Not that 2,000 career hits is a bad career, but it was disappointing based on how he started.
Correct!Kelly Gruber I think. That huge outlier season by a 3B caught my eye.
Mike Easler -- I think he was nicknamed the Hitman.
I was thinking more his decline in power / productivity. His OPS+ was never close to what it was in his age 21 and 22 seasons. With the speed and glove seemed on track for a special career.View attachment 245118
What's his name?
Correct!
Cedeno's age 30 season was the strike-shortened 1981 campaign, so the 82 games played that year is not statistically significant. The sharp decline in Stolen Bases after his age 29 season, however, suggests that his career was negatively impacted by some lingering leg issues. It ;ooks like he had a major injury in his age 27 season, (50 games played).
He remains the only player in Major League history to have three consecutive 20/ 50 seasons for HRs and SBs.
Ken Dayley. He got big money for those 5 innings with the Jays.
Joaquin Andujar - some great seasons with the speedy Cardinals of the mid 80's.
Rudy May (I think) based on the 78 and 79 seasons with the Expos.
Balor Moore - the first "big" prospect in the history of the Expos that never really went anywhere.
Sal Bando (bit of a guess)
Otis Nixon. After watching him a lot as an Expos fan in 1988-1990, would have never expected him to become the solid hitter he became in his 30's.
Sil Campusano? Its one of those elite Jays prospects from the 80's that went nowhere and I'm guessing Sil
Rance Mulliniks. Very solid platoon 3B... consistenly very strong OBP's which were not always recognized at the time.
