I thought that this was going to be about Black Sabbath. Damn.

Anyways....meh. Another Hollywood offering with all icing, and no cake. Pass.

Does Iron Man snort coke too?

Gyaos Baltar.
I'm sure you meant this as a joke but the choice of R Downey Jr as Iron Man was genius because Tony Stark DOES have a drug problem (alcoholism?) that screws up his life, apparently it will show up in the second Iron Man movie.

In other words, the casting choice of an actor who has had drug dependency problems and worked through them was deliberate.

Jesus, spent my childhood reading too many comics

The choice of Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark, is an excellent one. Apart from Toby McGuire some of the choices haven't done the characters justice.

I never actually read comics much as a kid, but some recent superhero movies have been pretty good.

Fortunately, I don't have any cherished childhood memories of X-Men or whatever to be shattered by Hollywood. I can just enjoy the show without saying "But in Iron Man #43 against Truckules, Stark clearly wore brown shoes blah blah blah"

I think Downey Jr is going to play a wicked Tony Stark. I'm more interested in his character than the suit effects. Though the suit is going to be awesome.

I seem to remember from the comic book that Tony Stark had a bad heart, which was one of the reasons he created the Iron Man suit...it was an extention of the artificial heart he also created for himself (which had to be continually recharged).

Tony was also kinda of a weak, nerdy guy as well.

From the trailer, it doesn't look like the movie is going to follow that theme.

Agree...Michael Keaton was the worst Batman.

George Clooney number 1, followed by Christian Bale, then Val Kilmer.

Sorry. Not meant to hijack

Along with Iron Man and Dark Knight there are others on the horizon.
Such as The Incredicle Hulk (Edward Norton)
X-Men spinoff Wolverine (Hugh Jackman)
Talks of Spiderman 4, Superman Returns #2, and more Xmen spinoffs.

There is also Justice League featuring Wonder Woman, Flash, Aquaman, Green Lantern, and perhaps Batman and Superman.

With Wonder Woman cathing my attention. They wanted Jessica Biel: http://img133.imagevenue.com/view.php?loc=loc42&image=66080_jessica_biel_booty02_122_42lo.jpg

But went with Aussie model Megan Gale:

Also to capitalize on the superhero craze are spoofs such as Superhero The Movie.
With Pammy taking over Jessica Alba's role as the Invisible Woman.
How is she going to hide the Dynamic Duo:)http://movies.ign.com/dor/superhero...o-movie-20080225110140540.html?page=mediaFull

In the comics, his heart is injured by a piece of shrapnel. He creates the armor to keep him alive, and also to escape from the POW camp where he's being held. He had to wear the armor's chest plate for a while to keep his heart going until he got the artificial one or some other kind of tech.
As for weak and nerdy? I think that's more a Spider-Man thing. Stark was like Bruce Wayne - a billionaire playboy.
