New form of indexing..

Now that etfs are so popular and pretty much anything can be traded.. Obviously, commodity are more heavily traded but let's not forget about the ones that signal fear in the market like VIX... Some didn't do so well like the luxury brand by claymore, ROB (Rob Report index). My suggestion is forming a terb index or adult entertainment index (playboy, huslter, etc). I believe that the tracking the traffic of terb can also give a good indication of consumer discretionary spending. I wondered if the moderator/ Fred can provide statistics on the trends in the number of postings. One can also easily track the site traffic but I think # of postings might be more meaningful

The unemployment rate is probably highly correlated to the # posting as well. I think trading volume on a bull markets might increase posting activities as well. I used to trade options and make couple hundred bucks on a good day. I would cash out right away from the bank and spend it on hobbying lol.. Those bull market were the good days....

Playboy, formerly PLA, was taken out last year. There aren't a lot of sex equities to make a sex index although RICK comes to mind. You can watch RICK's top line to see how much interest people have in going to stripclubs. The company is not run by people I'd consider competent businessmen. I would not want to own this stock, let alone pay a management fee for someone to hold it for me.
