I like when Bond is meaner/ruthless and less campy and pretty boy like moore and brosnan.

Imho, aside from Connery, those 2 were the best ones.

He is the first Bond under 6 feet tall, looks older than 38 and will be the worse one since Timothy Dalton in the late 80s.

...Dalton who looked like he should have been casted as an A Team bad guy instead of 007.

hugh could have pulled it off.... but this guy looks the part..Don't know about his acting skills or if they are going to let the story be more like the books... 007 like to drink and bang his ladies.... i would vote him in for the elections... at least he has balls..

...I thought Pierce Brosnan actually had the "edge" you are alluding to...certainly more than Roger Moore.

Roger Moore was the Bond I grew up with, so I was sad to see him move on...especially when Timothy Dalton turned out to be such a dud. But when Pierce Brosnan took over I could then see the issues with Roger Moore. Too old...too "campy" as you say. Simply too difficult to buy as a guy who could handle himself in a fight..

I thought Pierce Brosnan did a hell of a job...we'll see with the new guy...

Pierce did a good job, however if they want to restart the series, its better to go with a younger guy without too much screen baggage. Really didnt want Wolverine playing Bond.

I like the move away from gadgets and more bourne-identity realism. The trailers look really good. I love the Bond series so i hope it works.

I like him. I saw him some Brit flick awhile back and he had a really good screen presence. It will be interesting to see how the film comes out. My fav Bonds are Sean Connery and Pierce Brosnan.

Connery is the only Bond. He had it all. I agree Clive Owen would have been a great choice.

This guy just doesn't have the look or style you'd expect of Bond. Merely putting on a Brioni suit does not a Bond make!

And by the way, since when is a Bond movie a sappy love story as this one appears to be?? Sadly, I will go see it. Sucker for a Bond movie.

Clive Owen was actually offered the role but he declined because he thinks he is a bigger movie star than he actually is.
