Reimer is playing not because the starter is hurt but because the starter is not good.
The last time he started a playoff game was the infamous Game 7 vs Boston.
He could get his redemption right here.
Oh I know there is no injury, just thought of Carolina and the Zamboni driver EBUG. When Carolina and Leafs come up, everyone talks about the Zamboni driver and downplays the Dec 23, 2019 thriller, when Leafs storm back to win 8-6.

I know you know but not everyone knows.
Leafs losing to Zamboni driver tells you they have no killer instinct.
Much too casual.

We shouldn't take the ramblings of that other member seriously. The irony is that the Islanders are doing better without JT91 than the Leafs aren't doing with him.
If JT91 had a little scrappiness to his game, I’d literally be in love.

I agree Nylander has to go, whoever we get even if it’s draft choices, the team has a long way to go. Kief is a great coach, he just needs smarter players.
Steve Simmons mentions Pietrangelo is available as a free agent next season but he will want 9 million for 8 years. Only an idiot like Dubas would pay that.
As an aside, I love what Lou has done for the islanders. I also thought Washington was crazy to let Trotz go.

Frat boy peach fuzz for a beard Kyle Dumbass. Doesn’t have the resume, and does not deserve to be Gm’ing in Toronto. I can give a rats ass about the Calder Cup or wherever the hell it’s called, where heart doesn’t matter.

How generous is Dumbas? I wish he was my boss.

2019–20 season

The team salary cap is $81.5 million. No player can earn more than $16.3 million.

  1. Mitch Marner (Toronto Maple Leafs) $16 million
  2. Auston Matthews (Toronto Maple Leafs) $15.9 million John Tavares (Toronto Maple Leafs) $15.9 million
  3. Connor McDavid (Edmonton Oilers) $15 million Carey Price (Montreal Canadiens) $15 million

1) As you mentioned in an earlier post, no help from the draft.
2) No free cap space. (Yes George, cap space isn't free, happy now.) 4 players account for 50% of the cap.
The Maple Leafs have the 15th overall pick in this year's draft.
Toronto has $7,791,467 in cap space.

The Leafs only have 3 NHL regulars in Rielly, Muzzin and Holl under contract for next season. Sandin may not be ready. So they have to sign 3 defence men for whatever cap space they may have.

not always sure...

There seems to be a lot of excitement among some members about this cap space thing but they only have 16 players under contract right now - which is the only reason they have $7.8 million in cap space.

If they sign fewer than 7 players with that $7.8 million they're going to be even thinner in depth and very vulnerable to any injuries. Entry level contracts will be mostly what's needed unless they trade out a lot more salary.

Speaking of idiots, you quote Steve Simmons....

I can guarantee Kyle Dubas will not sign Pietrangelo to a $9Mm(a.a.v.) x 8yr deal.

This most likely means the Leafs will not be biding for Krug who is/was already making north of $5mm (average cap hit).

Also, Hyman and Andersen become UFA in 2021. Maybe best to trade Andersen now and get something in return. Leafs should do whatever they can to keep Hyman.

It's unfortunate the Maple Leafs have such a poor general manager.
They should be more like the St. Louis Blues, who have 21 players under contract.
The Blues have only 2 more to get deals done to be at the 23 man roster limit.
I'm sure Doug Armstrong will find a way to squeeze Alex Pietrangelo's
and another player's deals into the $2,047,501 in available cap space.

It will be interesting to see how much Dermott gets. Dubas is famous for overpaying RFAs.

Ready or not the leafs will most likely bring up Sandin and Robertson because they are cheap.

St. Louis won the cup last year.
Does that count for anything?

One is enough?

It's a shame Armstrong overpaid lesser players and the team is now possibly going to lose it's captain and best defenceman.

Don't look back, someone might be gaining on you.
