I've been getting tons of these bogus emails in the last 48 hours.

Being an SP, I get email from people I don't know constantly, making the usual email virus tactics relatively useless.

Virus writers are NOT invited to my birthday party.

I am not, in general, a proponent of corporal punishment, but in the case of virus writers, I would be willing to make an exception. I think they should chop the fingers off anyone that writes and releases a virus.

Let's see them click their mouses with no fingers!

Ophelia, you have just as much chance of receiving a virus from someone you know as from someone you don't. More, perhaps. A friend is likely to have your e-mail address in their address book. Many viruses distribute themselves by using addresses found in the address book as their next destinations. Your best defense is some good anti-virus software, updated frequently. It will watch your incoming e-mail and quaranteen infected files.

The problem is that it's strictly a business email account - friends don't contact me at that address; so almost all mail is unfamiliar, with even regulars jumping between home and office and Hotmail accounts. But my system's not infected, and hopefully will stay that way. Yay!

I'm pretty well protected - Zone Alarm, AntiVir, and I don't use the bucketful of Hell that is Windows Outlook/Express.

My paid Hotmail does a pretty good job (protected with McAfee), and I have only one name in my Hotmail address book - this wonderful individual who sent me hate mail out of the blue.

I know that is just plain wrong, but so is dousing cake with milk before eating it, and I do that too...

I read it and there was a part that said that the virus queries for certain IP adresses and then gave a list. What does that mean, exactly??

I just had my first encounter with somone trying to send me that darn Netsky thing. Thanks goodness that I was fully aware of the fact I did not know anyone named "monica" and that I never open attatchment, even from freinds unless ihave been notified they are sending it. Oh yeah, and havign jsut read aboutit the other day didn't hurt either *chuckles*
